Cybertrucks show up on Turo because the vehicle can sell an unusual driving experience, while Turo lets individual owners and fleet operators set rental prices. But a visible set of listings is not proof of a surge in supply, strong bookings, or profitable rentals: public listing pages do not reveal those figures.
Why hosts list Cybertrucks on Turo
Novelty can make the truck an experience rental
The clearest explanation from a Cybertruck host is that renters are buying more than transportation. InsideEVs quoted fleet operator Dustin Liu saying, “People rent on Turo for luxury and for experience, both of which the Cybertruck provides.” That is Liu’s view, not evidence that all or most Cybertruck renters share the same motive. The truck’s distinctive stainless-steel exterior and features such as Powershare also contribute to its unusual appeal; Tesla described those features in its January 2025 investor presentation.
Some listings may come from fleet operators
Individual owners are not the only possible source of listings. InsideEVs reported that Liu operated a 90-car rental fleet, with 65 vehicles listed on Turo. The report said he had bought five Cybertrucks and ordered 20 more; it does not establish that those orders were delivered or listed. His operation is an example of fleet participation, not evidence of how common fleet ownership is among Cybertruck hosts.
What Turo listings do—and do not—show
Turo’s U.S. Cybertruck category page displays vehicles across model years and host listings, but it is a live marketplace snapshot, not a complete count of vehicles, bookings, or rental days. It cannot establish whether Cybertruck listings have grown over time or how often they are rented.

Tesla’s January 2025 investor presentation reported a 4680 cell production rate exceeding 2,500 Cybertrucks per week. That was a dated, company-reported production figure, not a measure of current sales, deliveries, used-vehicle availability, or Turo inventory.
How Turo pricing can make listing a vehicle appealing
Turo says local owners set their daily rates. The displayed price can vary with the vehicle’s year, trip length, extras, and delivery; the platform also describes discounts for longer trips and a 10% non-refundable discount for bookings made at least four days ahead. These terms can change, so check the individual listing and booking page for current prices and conditions.

Flexible pricing lets hosts respond to their own expectations about demand, but an advertised rate is not income. Turo’s U.S. page also notes that eligibility and trip conditions can vary: renters need approval and a valid license, age requirements can differ for higher-value vehicle classes, and distance limits are listing-specific. Check the applicable listing and current terms rather than assuming one rule applies to every Cybertruck.
Does renting out a Cybertruck make its owner money?
It can bring in rental revenue, but the available figures do not show whether that revenue covers a Cybertruck’s costs. A meaningful estimate would need booked days and actual payouts, as well as financing or lease expenses, depreciation, insurance, cleaning, repairs, damage, downtime, and platform-related costs. Neither the presence of listings nor a host’s asking price answers that profitability question.

Turo’s 2025 Canada Car Ownership Index reported that 44% of surveyed Canadian owners willing to rent out an owned or leased car cited extra income, while 25% cited offsetting ownership or lease costs. Those figures describe stated motivations among Canadian car owners—not U.S. respondents, Cybertruck hosts, or realized earnings.

Carconomics recorded 80 price cuts since August 16 for one 2025 Cybertruck listing in Los Angeles, with the largest individual cut at 21.4%, on a page accessed October 8, 2026. That is one listing’s observed asking-price behavior. It does not reveal whether the vehicle was booked, whether the host was responding to weak demand, or whether the rental was profitable; it should not be read as a market-wide trend.

What a prospective renter or owner should check
If you want to rent one
- Compare the full trip price, not just the daily rate; trip length, delivery, extras, and any discounts can affect the total.
- Review the specific listing’s distance allowance, eligibility conditions, and host details before booking.
- Treat availability and displayed prices as time-sensitive; the marketplace changes as hosts update listings and dates.
If you are considering listing one
- Estimate net proceeds using realistic booked days and expected payout, not the posted daily rate alone.
- Include ownership or lease costs, depreciation, insurance, cleaning, repairs, damage exposure, and days when the vehicle cannot be rented.
- Do not infer demand from the number of visible listings or infer profitability from a price increase or cut.
