Its report connected the decline to mounting customer-service concerns and a loss of electric two-wheeler market share, while noting increased competition from Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor. The article also cited a prior stock peak of ₹157; that is a historical comparison, not a current valuation benchmark.
The reported share-price move describes one trading session. It does not by itself establish why every investor traded, whether the stock was fairly valued, or how it has performed since. The available figures here do not establish Ola Electric’s share price on October 8, 2026.
What was behind the customer-complaint concern?
TechCrunch reported more than 80,000 customer complaints per month, attributing the figure to Mint. The original Mint report was not independently verified here, and the figure is a 2024 media-reported monthly total—not a current official count. It also does not specify whether complaints were resolved or still open.

The TechCrunch story described service-center visits by HSBC analysts. The analysts wrote that “Most service centers appeared overwhelmed by service requests and were struggling to provide adequate service quality (as expected from an Auto OEM in India).” This is dated analyst commentary reported by TechCrunch, not a regulator’s finding or an independent current audit of Ola’s service operations.
How much market share did Ola Electric lose?
TechCrunch said figures published by the Indian government put Ola Electric’s share of the electric two-wheeler market at about 49% in the quarter ended June 2024 and 27% at the end of September 2024. The same report said TVS and Bajaj had each grown to more than 20% of that market at the time. The fall in Ola’s reported share and the gains by competitors provide context for the stock story, but these are period-specific figures—not current market shares.

Later figures point to why market comparisons need careful labels. The measures below cover different periods and denominators; they should not be read as one continuous, directly comparable market-share series.

Ola Electric’s January 2026 release also said it had a 250-member rapid-response team and had introduced a direct-to-consumer genuine-parts initiative. Those are company-described service measures; the release’s market-share figures likewise remain company-reported, rather than an independent assessment of service quality or a like-for-like update to the 2024 figures.

Why bookings, deliveries and registrations can tell different stories
Registrations, deliveries, bookings and market share are not interchangeable. In an excerpt from its FY26 shareholder letter, Ola Electric said NSE and SEBI had sought information about a variance between registrations shown on VAHAN and a press announcement. The company’s explanation was that the announcement referred to bookings, while revenue recognition followed delivery after registration. That is the company’s explanation; it does not independently resolve the underlying discrepancy.
- Period: a monthly figure, quarter-end figure and year-to-date figure cover different windows.
- Metric: bookings, deliveries and registrations measure different stages of a sale.
- Denominator: share of electric two-wheelers is not the same as share of all two-wheeler registrations—or all vehicle registrations.
- Source: company-reported numbers, government registration data and a secondary compilation carry different attribution and verification.
What investors should know about the October 2026 rights issue
Ola Electric’s investor-relations materials list a board outcome concerning a rights issue and record date, as well as a resolution on issue terms, both dated October 7, 2026. The materials also list BSE and NSE in-principle approvals dated October 6. The listed page information alone does not establish the final issue price, entitlement ratio, record date or timetable. Investors considering the offer should check the filed Letter of Offer and exchange filings for the operative details rather than infer terms from the board-outcome listing.

Later figures add context, including Ola’s claimed market-share rebound in late 2025 and September 2026 registration data, but they do not settle the current complaint trend or establish today’s stock valuation. For a current investment decision, use up-to-date exchange prices and filings, and compare operating figures only after checking their period, metric, denominator and source.
