Meezan Bank reported profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 46.164 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2025, down 10% from Rs 51.444 billion in H1 2024. The bank’s directors attributed the decline primarily to a lower policy-rate environment, implementation of the minimum deposit rate on Islamic banks, and a higher applicable tax regime. Its report does not quantify how much each factor contributed.

Why did Meezan Bank’s profit fall 10% in H1 2025?

The 10% decline compares PAT for the six months ended June 30, 2025, with the same period in 2024. Meezan Bank’s Directors’ Review identifies three primary reasons: a significantly lower policy-rate environment, implementation of the minimum deposit rate on Islamic banks, and an increase in the applicable tax regime. These are management’s stated explanations; the report does not assign a separate rupee impact to each one. Meezan Bank’s H1 2025 report presents the rounded PAT figures as Rs 46.2 billion and Rs 51.4 billion.

The reported numbers also show the movements accompanying the decline. They are not a quantified bridge proving how much each income-statement line caused PAT to change.
