JetBlue says they are part of its JetForward strategy to add a premium airport experience and benefits for eligible customers. Access now includes eligible travelers departing on Mint or Mint Flex fares, while Mint Base does not include lounge access.
Why JetBlue decided to open lounges
JetBlue framed BlueHouse as an extension of its premium travel experience and a new benefit for some TrueBlue Mosaic members and premium card customers. In its September 2024 announcement, the airline described the lounges as part of JetForward, its strategy for the business. At the JFK opening, president Marty St. George said the lounge would help the airline’s flagship terminal feel more like home. These are JetBlue’s stated aims; the announcements do not establish the lounges’ costs, incremental revenue, or effect on customer behavior. The figures are from JetBlue’s opening announcements: JFK and Boston. JetBlue’s original September 2024 plan listed 8,000 square feet for JFK and 11,000 for Boston; the later opening announcements reported completed spaces of 9,000 and 12,000 square feet. The announcements do not explain the difference.
Who can enter BlueHouse
JetBlue’s access rules have changed since the first lounge plan. The latest policy in the announcements cited here took effect August 27, 2026: eligible customers with confirmed departing travel on Mint or Mint Flex fares can receive complimentary access at both BlueHouse locations, including for domestic travel. Mint Base does not include lounge access. JetBlue’s Boston opening announcement describes the expansion.

Earlier policies named Mosaic 4 members, JetBlue Premier Cardmembers, and transatlantic Mint customers among the complimentary-access groups, with other customers potentially eligible for limited passes. Those dated terms should not be treated as the current complete rules. For current eligibility conditions, guest charges, and operational details, check JetBlue’s BlueHouse access information before traveling; lounge terms can change.
What the award does—and does not—show
JetBlue said JFK BlueHouse was voted No. 1 Best Airport Lounge in Newsweek’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2026. The result came from a public-voting program; it is not an audited measure of service quality, financial performance, or passenger demand. JetBlue’s award announcement gives the claim and its context.
