Infiniti’s U.S. sales fell for a second straight year, but the decline was not shared by every model. Nissan executive Ivan Espinosa said the brand had received too little attention because Nissan spread its resources too thin. That is Nissan’s explanation—not proof of a single cause—and the sales figures show a mixed picture: QX60 and QX80 sales rose in 2025 while several other models fell sharply.
Infiniti’s U.S. sales fell in both 2024 and 2025
Nissan North America reported 52,846 Infiniti sales in the United States in calendar 2025, down 9.0% from 58,070 in 2024. The decline followed a 10.2% drop in 2024, when Infiniti sold 58,070 vehicles, compared with 64,699 in 2023. Nissan North America’s 2025 U.S. sales report and its 2024 report establish a two-year downward trend in the U.S.; they do not explain what caused it.
The 2025 result also differed from Nissan Division’s: Nissan reported that division’s U.S. sales increased 0.9% that year. This comparison shows that Infiniti’s decline was not simply the same result as the parent company’s U.S. division, but it does not mean the two divisions serve the same buyers or have the same model mix.
Model results were sharply divided in 2025
Infiniti’s total obscures a wide gap between its models. Nissan North America’s 2025 U.S. figures show growth for two SUVs and steep declines for three other models:

Figures and year-over-year changes are from Nissan North America’s 2025 U.S. sales report. The QX60 had the highest reported total among these models. The Q50’s steep fall, therefore, is not a proxy for every Infiniti: QX60 and QX80 sales increased. Nor do model totals reveal why buyers did or did not choose a particular vehicle.
Nissan says Infiniti did not get enough attention
At an analyst session discussing FY2024 results, Nissan executive Ivan Espinosa was asked why the company would continue producing and selling Infiniti vehicles given the brand’s low sales volume. He attributed the shortfall to how Nissan allocated its resources:

“The low sales volume is not due to brand strength, but rather because we have spread our resources too thin across many areas, which has prevented us from giving Infiniti the attention it deserves.”
Espinosa also said, “We definitely want to continue with the Infiniti brand.” For the QX80, he said: “For example, the QX80 is a prime example; it is our most profitable model, and we can take an efficient approach by leveraging Nissan’s assets.” These are Nissan management’s statements, not independent verification of the cause of the sales decline or the model’s profitability. The official analyst-session document records both the question and Espinosa’s response.

Nissan announced more product activity, not a proven turnaround
In March 2025, Nissan announced plans for more than 10 new or refreshed products across key segments in the United States and Canada, including Infiniti models. The announcement described a mix of hybrid technologies, next-generation EVs and internal-combustion engines. It signals intended product activity, but an announcement alone does not establish that all planned launches were completed or that sales subsequently improved. Nissan’s March 2025 announcement is the source for those plans.

The supported explanation is limited: Infiniti’s U.S. sales declined in 2024 and 2025, results differed substantially by model, and Nissan’s leadership said the brand had not received enough organizational attention. The figures show the outcome, while Espinosa’s remarks give Nissan’s stated rationale; neither establishes a definitive, independently measured cause.
