Impinj shares rose more than 20% in after-hours trading on July 30, 2025, after the RFID technology company reported $97.9 million in revenue for the second quarter. The move was an immediate reaction to its earnings report—not a verified 20% gain at the regular-session close. Impinj said revenue and adjusted EBITDA exceeded its guidance, but the sources cited here do not establish the analyst-consensus estimate behind the headline’s claim that revenue topped estimates.
What Impinj reported for Q2 2025
For the quarter ended June 30, 2025, Impinj reported revenue of $97.9 million, GAAP net income of $11.6 million and adjusted EBITDA of $27.6 million. These are company-reported figures; GAAP net income and adjusted EBITDA are different measures and should not be treated as interchangeable.
CEO and co-founder Chris Diorio said, “Our second-quarter results were strong, with revenue and adjusted EBITDA exceeding our guidance.” That statement compares the results with the company’s own outlook, not necessarily with analysts’ consensus forecast. Impinj’s Q2 2025 results.
Why the quarter could lift the stock
The results showed a substantial rebound from the prior quarter: revenue increased 32% from $74.3 million in Q1 2025. But the year-over-year comparison was weaker: Q2 2025 revenue was down 4% from $102.5 million in Q2 2024. Those comparisons give a fuller picture than the headline revenue figure alone—strong sequential improvement alongside a modest annual decline. Impinj’s quarterly results release.

Impinj sells technology for RAIN RFID, which is used to identify and track items. Its business results can therefore reflect demand for solutions used by organizations to track products and assets. The earnings release and contemporaneous coverage establish the reported results and market reaction, but do not isolate a single cause for the share-price move.
What “surges 20%” does—and does not—mean
GeekWire reported that Impinj shares rose more than 20% in after-hours trading following the earnings release. After-hours trading takes place outside the regular stock-market session, and its price move is not the same as a closing-price return. The report does not establish that shares closed up 20% or that the after-hours gain persisted in subsequent trading. GeekWire’s July 30, 2025 coverage.

Did Impinj beat analysts’ revenue estimates?
The headline says revenue topped estimates, but the sources cited here do not establish the exact analyst-consensus revenue estimate. Without that figure, it is not possible to calculate the size of a consensus beat reliably. The documented comparison is that revenue and adjusted EBITDA exceeded Impinj’s own guidance, as the CEO stated.
How the 2025 result compares with newer company figures
The $97.9 million result is historical, not a current quarterly figure. Impinj later reported $108.4 million in revenue for Q2 2026 and gave revenue guidance of $105.5 million to $108.5 million for Q3 2026. The later figures provide updated company context; they do not change what happened to the stock after the Q2 2025 report. Impinj’s Q2 2026 results.

What investors should take from the reaction
An after-hours jump is a short-term market response, not by itself evidence that a stock is fairly valued or that the gain will continue. To assess the company beyond this single event, investors would need to consider its later operating results, outlook, valuation and risks. The figures above explain the Q2 2025 news and its immediate trading reaction; they are not a recommendation to buy or sell Impinj shares.
