Fntastic’s 2024 funding request was for Escape Factory, not The Day Before. Its current website says it is rebuilding, but does not establish that a new funding campaign is active.
Why was Fntastic asking for money again?
The request came in September 2024, when Fntastic returned under its “Fntastic 2.0” identity and asked gamers to back Escape Factory on Kickstarter. PC Gamer reported a campaign target of $15,535 at the time; that was a historical goal for the 2024 campaign, not a current offer. PC Gamer reported on the campaign and its return.
In a September 2024 recovery document, Fntastic said it intended to prioritize transparency and honesty. Those were the studio’s stated commitments, not independently verified results. Fntastic’s recovery plan explains how the company presented its relaunch.
What happened to the Escape Factory Kickstarter?
On October 23, 2024, Fntastic cancelled the campaign. The studio said Escape Factory had not generated enough interest and was unlikely to reach its goal. GameSpot reported that the campaign had raised $2,388 from 50 pledges toward a $15,183 goal, using its own dollar conversion. PC Gamer reported the target as $15,535. These are different reported conversions of the campaign goal and should not be treated as identical figures.

Fntastic’s cancellation announcement said that no funds had been collected. That is the company’s statement about the cancelled Kickstarter, not an independently audited total. PC Gamer reported the cancellation and the studio’s announcement.
Did this mean Fntastic had previously crowdfunded The Day Before?
No. These were separate projects and funding episodes. The Day Before entered Early Access on December 7, 2023. Four days later, Fntastic announced it was closing, saying the game had failed financially and it lacked funds to continue. The studio also said there had been no pre-orders or crowdfunding for The Day Before. Game Informer reproduced the studio’s closure statement.

What is Items?
In the same October 2024 message announcing the Escape Factory cancellation, Fntastic introduced Items, which it described as an action-horror prop hunt game. The studio said: “Once we have a fully playable demo, we may launch a new Kickstarter campaign or explore other options for release.” The word “may” matters: it was a conditional possibility tied to a future playable demo, not a promise that a campaign would happen or a notice that one had started. The cancellation announcement also covered Items.

Is Fntastic fundraising now?
Fntastic’s official website, accessed October 8, 2026, says the studio is rebuilding and that new games are coming. It does not say a Kickstarter or other funding appeal is currently live. The historical statement about potentially seeking funding for Items is not evidence of a present campaign. Check the studio’s official site for current announcements rather than treating the cancelled 2024 Kickstarter as an open request.
