Campbell Soup Company became The Campbell’s Company on November 19, 2024, after shareholders approved a corporate name change. The company said the new name reflects its broader food portfolio—not an exit from soup. Campbell’s said its familiar red-and-white soup labels would remain on shelves.

Why did Campbell’s drop “Soup” from its name?

The company said the change better represents its full portfolio while preserving the recognition and reputation associated with the Campbell’s name and its 155-year heritage. That portfolio includes soups, snacks, sauces, broth, beverages and other foods. The company did not describe the change as a shift away from soup or say snacks alone prompted it. Campbell’s announcement and its shareholder announcement set out that rationale.

Then-CEO Mark Clouse described the rename as a “subtle yet important change” that would retain the name’s recognition and equity while reflecting the breadth of the company’s portfolio. The company said that heritage spanned 155 years in its 2024 announcement.

When did Campbell Soup Company become The Campbell’s Company?

  • September 10, 2024: Campbell announced at its Fiscal 2025 Investor Day that it would seek shareholder approval for the name change. Investor Day announcement
  • November 19, 2024: Shareholders approved the change at the annual meeting. The company and its SEC filing identify this as the approval and effective date. SEC filing
  • November 20, 2024: The company publicly announced that the new name had been approved.

Is Campbell’s still making soup?

Yes. The name change affected the company’s corporate identity, not the Campbell’s soup brand. The company explicitly said: “The iconic red and white Campbell’s soup labels that people love will always be on shelves.” Its announcement listed Campbell’s soup among the brands in its portfolio.

Is Campbell’s focusing on snacks now?

Snacks are an important part of the company’s broader portfolio, but “shifts focus to snacks” is not the company’s stated explanation for removing “Soup.” Campbell’s named snack brands include Goldfish, Pepperidge Farm, Cape Cod, Kettle Brand, Lance, Late July, Snyder’s of Hanover and Snack Factory. Its portfolio also includes soup and meal brands, sauces, broth and beverages, among other foods.

What changed for shoppers?

The corporate name changed to The Campbell’s Company; the company said Campbell’s soup packaging would remain on shelves. The rename does not, by itself, establish a change to a particular product’s recipe, availability or packaging beyond that statement. The announcement also listed brands including Chunky, Pace, Pacific Foods, Prego, Rao’s, Swanson and V8 alongside Campbell’s and its snack brands.
