Pokémon says very high demand is affecting the availability of some Pokémon Trading Card Game products. It says it is printing more of the impacted products, maximizing production for future expansions, and continuing reprints for participating retailers, including Pokémon Center. That does not mean every set or shop is sold out: stock varies by product, retailer, place, and time.

Why are Pokémon cards sold out?

The clearest official explanation is high demand. In a U.S. English update dated May 26, 2026, Pokémon Support said some fans were having difficulty buying certain Pokémon TCG products because very high demand was affecting availability. The company said it was printing more of those products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity, and that reprints were expected to reach participating retailers as soon as possible. It also said it was maximizing production for future expansions and would continue reprinting impacted products for participating retailers, including Pokémon Center. Read Pokémon Support’s availability update.

That statement does not break the shortage down by cause. It gives no figures for the roles of collectors, players, resellers, bots, manufacturing capacity, retailer allocation, or distribution. Claims that any one of those factors is the sole cause—or accounts for a specific share—go beyond what the cited official information establishes.

Does “sold out everywhere” mean there are no cards available?

Not necessarily. An empty shelf at one store, an online listing marked unavailable, and a checkout error during a busy launch are different signals. Pokémon’s statement concerns some products and participating retailers; it does not establish that every set, retailer, or region is out of stock.

Pokémon’s Japanese official site has separately reported that Pokémon card products are generally in short supply in its context, and says it is strengthening production and reproducing and shipping products in shortage. That supports the existence of scarcity there, but it is not a worldwide inventory count. See the Japanese Pokémon Card Game statement.

Why can a Pokémon Center launch sell out during checkout?

Demand and website traffic can both complicate a major release. Pokémon Center says increased traffic may lead to a virtual queue or errors, and that a 30th Celebration item could go out of stock before a customer finishes checkout. These details apply to that launch; they do not prove that every sold-out product elsewhere has the same cause. Read the 30th Celebration TCG FAQ.

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box
  • The Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box includes 9 Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black booster packs and 1 full-art foil promo card featuring Zarude.
  • This also comes with 65 card sleeves, 40 Pokémon TCG Energy cards, and a player’s guide to the Mega Evolution—Pitch Black expansion.
  • You will also get a competition-legal coin-flip die, 6 damage-counter dice, and a plastic coin.
  • You will also find a collector’s box to hold everything, with 6 dividers to keep it organized and a code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.

Pokémon Center says it uses technology to prioritize getting products to fans and may introduce a virtual queue during periods of increased traffic. If a queue appears, follow its instructions and keep the queue window open as directed. An error or an item in your cart is not, by itself, confirmation that an order was completed.

When will Pokémon cards restock?

There is no single restock timetable established by Pokémon Center. Its FAQ says frequency depends on the product and manufacturer supply; trading card boxes restock less predictably than everyday merchandise. For 30th Celebration products specifically, Pokémon Center says it cannot share whether or when they will be restocked. See Pokémon Center’s general FAQ.

Pokémon’s availability update says reprints of impacted products are expected at participating retailers as soon as possible, but it does not give a date. A reprint announcement is therefore not a promise that a particular shop will have stock on a particular day.

Where should you check for Pokémon TCG stock?

  • Pokémon Center: Check its official new releases and the specific product page for updates. Pokémon Center says popular TCG products may be restocked, but does not promise a fixed day.
  • Participating retailers: Check with retailers for the exact product you want. Pokémon’s reprint notice refers to participating retailers, and availability can differ between shops and products.
  • Busy launch checkouts: Follow queue instructions and wait for a clear order confirmation. Pokémon Center warns that an item may sell out before checkout is complete.
  • Third-party listings: Treat marketplace listings as separate seller offers, not as confirmation of official-store stock. Check the seller identity, product details, and listed price; the official notices cited here do not verify third-party inventory or authenticity.

For personal budgeting, compare the total price of a listing with the product’s stated retail price before buying. The official sources cited here do not establish current third-party prices or guarantee that a listing is authentic.
