ApeCoin did not rise more than 90% in the 24 hours described by Cointelegraph’s October 21, 2024 report. That report put APE’s gain at 16.5% over the prior 24 hours, while describing a move of as much as 104% from the October 20 low to the October 21 high. ApeChain’s launch and bridge activity coincided with the rally, but the report does not prove that the bridge alone caused it.
What happened, and when?
ApeChain launched on October 19, 2024, according to the Ape Foundation’s Transparency Report. Cointelegraph reported two days later that APE had risen sharply amid the launch and bridge activity. The Foundation’s report says ApeChain had more than 60 key integrations at launch, spanning infrastructure, developer tools, bridges, DeFi applications, and minting platforms; the report’s publication date is not established.
Cointelegraph’s October 21 article, “ApeCoin (APE) price jumps 100% on ApeChain launch, described transfers of APE, WETH, USDC, USDT, and DAI between ApeChain, Ethereum, and Arbitrum. It also pointed to strengthening market structure alongside the launch. That makes the bridge a reported catalyst in the story, not a proven sole explanation for the price action.
How much did APE rise?
The percentage depends on the time window. Cointelegraph’s October 21, 2024 report cited Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView for the market figures below. Its 24-hour number and its low-to-high comparison describe different measurements:

These are historical figures from a specific report, not current prices or a forecast. The headline’s “over 90% in 24 hours” wording is not supported by the report’s stated 24-hour figure; the larger increase refers to a different comparison window.
What role did the bridge play?
A bridge lets assets move between blockchain networks. The transfers described by Cointelegraph linked ApeChain with Ethereum and Arbitrum and involved several tokens, including APE. That activity offered a visible connection between the network launch and the market attention around APE.

Timing alone cannot establish why a token’s price changed. Cointelegraph also mentioned strengthening market structure, and the available account does not isolate the bridge from other market influences. It is more accurate to say the rally coincided with the launch and bridge activity than to say the bridge definitively caused it.

That describes its stated utility on the network; it does not verify or explain the October 2024 price movement. The page’s separate market display is dated October 6, 2026, so it should not be confused with the historical figures in Cointelegraph’s report.

What should a personal-finance reader take away?
- Check the measurement window before repeating a percentage: a low-to-high move is not automatically a 24-hour return.
- Treat market reports as dated snapshots. The October 2024 prices do not represent APE’s current value.
- Do not infer a single cause from a price move that coincides with a product or network launch.
- A token’s network utility and its market price are separate facts; the stated gas-token role does not establish that APE is suitable for any particular investor.
