Separately, The Charlotte Observer reported about 1,000 flight delays that week amid a nationwide air traffic controller shortage during the federal government shutdown; the available reporting does not say the passenger incident caused those delays.
What happened on American Airlines Flight 2732?
Flight 2732 left Charlotte Douglas International Airport for Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Friday, October 10, 2025. According to The Charlotte Observer, the aircraft returned to Charlotte after two passengers reportedly refused to follow flight-attendant instructions. Law enforcement met the plane at the gate, the passengers deplaned, and the flight later departed for Jamaica. The report said it arrived about four hours late.
The report did not establish what specific instructions the passengers refused, provide further details about their conduct, or say whether charges were filed. No more specific account of the incident is supported by the available reporting.
Did the two passengers cause more than 1,000 flight delays?
No such connection is established. The report described about 1,000 flight delays during the same week and attributed them to a nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers amid the federal government shutdown. That is a separate operational issue from the return of Flight 2732. The figure is approximate, not an independently confirmed exact count in the reporting.
