What the available net-worth figures show
The best-supported comparison is about the quality and date of the estimates, not a precise difference between their fortunes. Forbes’s 2023 estimate for Perry is dated and tied to a reported music-rights transaction. Estimates for Trudeau found in online celebrity-net-worth coverage are not transparent, independently audited valuations comparable to Forbes’s figure.

In December 2025, Perry shared photos and video from a Japan trip featuring herself and Trudeau. The Guardian reported the post on December 7 as making their relationship Instagram-official; Global News described moments including a selfie, sushi, and a museum exhibit. This was a public social-media confirmation as reported by those outlets, not a detailed interview statement about the relationship.

Trudeau also reshared a photo with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. In an X post quoted by The Guardian, he wrote: “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.” (The Guardian, December 2025.)
How the relationship became public
- July 2025: The Associated Press reported that Perry and Trudeau had dinner at Montreal restaurant Le Violon. A restaurant communications consultant confirmed the dinner lasted about two hours and said staff saw no visible public affection. The dinner prompted speculation; by itself, it did not confirm a relationship.
- October 2025: The Guardian reported that they attended a Paris cabaret show for Perry’s birthday and were photographed holding hands.
- December 2025: Perry’s Japan-trip Instagram carousel brought the relationship into view on social media and was widely reported as making it official.

Why a precise “who’s richer?” answer would mislead
A net-worth estimate is not an audited disclosure. The available Perry figure is a Forbes estimate from 2023, while the Trudeau figures circulating online lack comparable transparent methodology and conflict with one another. Differences in source, date, and valuation method mean that subtracting one online estimate from the other would create false precision.
So the defensible answer is limited: Forbes’s dated benchmark puts Perry at $340 million in 2023; the evidence here does not establish a reliable, comparable current Trudeau figure. That supports neither a precise wealth gap nor a definitive current ranking.
