It costs $239 per year, includes wireless charging and WHOOP’s broader software package, and avoids the $120 annual premium for Life and WHOOP MG. Choose WHOOP One at $199 per year for core sleep, strain, and recovery features. Choose Life with WHOOP MG at $359 per year only if its blood-pressure insights, ECG-based Heart Screener, or on-demand AFib Detection are central to your decision.

WHOOP 5.0 is the standard hardware bundled with One and Peak. WHOOP MG is bundled with Life and is tied to that tier’s additional health features. The distinction is therefore more than a cosmetic hardware change: you are choosing a different hardware-and-membership package.
#1 Best Overall
- What You Get - A 12-month membership, WHOOP 5.0 device, a SuperKnit band, and a waterproof* Wireless PowerPack. Choose from a range of band and accessory combinations, and add a waterproof Wireless PowerPack for on-the-go charging.
- HSA/FSA Eligible - All 12-month WHOOP memberships and battery packs qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
- Screenless, Distraction-Free - No screen, no buzzing notifications. WHOOP focuses entirely on your health and performance, with up to 14+ day battery life so you can wear it around the clock.
- Healthspan with Pace of Aging - Understand how your daily habits shape long-term health. Healthspan measures your WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging so you can take science-backed action to slow biological aging and extend your prime years.
- 24/7 Health Insights - WHOOP monitors your heart rate every second of every day, delivering personalized Sleep, Strain, Recovery, VO2 max, Menstrual Cycle, and Heart Rate insights along with a Real-time Stress Monitor that pinpoints your stressors and shows how your body responds in the moment, so you can make better decisions about training, rest, and daily performance.
Both devices are listed with 14-plus days of battery life. The main reason to pay for MG is access to WHOOP’s Life-only feature bundle:
- Blood Pressure Insights.
- Heart Screener with ECG readings.
- On-demand AFib Detection.
WHOOP describes these as health features and insights. Do not treat an app result as a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, heart disease, or another condition. Consumer wearable readings may require confirmation by a qualified clinician. Seek urgent medical care for symptoms such as chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, or sustained palpitations rather than relying on the app.
Which WHOOP plan should you buy?
Choose WHOOP One for the lowest recurring cost
One is sensible if your priorities are sleep, strain, recovery, and basic coaching. It is $40 cheaper per year than Peak, but comes with a wired charger and CoreKnit band and omits Peak’s additional stress and health-monitoring tools.

Choose One if you are comfortable with those trade-offs. It is a poor fit if wireless charging, real-time stress monitoring, or Healthspan are important to you.
Choose WHOOP Peak for the strongest general-purpose package
Peak is the default recommendation because the $40 annual increase over One buys a Wireless PowerPack, SuperKnit band, and several meaningful software additions. It also costs $120 less per year than Life.
Peak is best for athletes, recovery-focused users, and people who want WHOOP’s fuller standard experience without paying for MG-specific features. It is not a good fit if you want a screen, built-in GPS, smartwatch notifications, or a tracker that remains fully useful without a subscription.
Rank #2
- What You Get - A 12-month membership, WHOOP MG device, a SuperKnit Luxe band, and a waterproof* Wireless PowerPack.
- Heart Screener with On-Demand ECG - Take an ECG reading from your wrist in seconds to check for signs of atrial fibrillation. Heart Screener gives you a medical-grade view of your heart rhythm whenever you need it.
Choose Life and MG only for specific advanced health features
Life makes sense when ECG-based Heart Screener features, Blood Pressure Insights, or on-demand AFib Detection justify the premium for you. It is difficult to justify for ordinary sleep and workout tracking alone because Peak provides the standard WHOOP 5.0 experience for substantially less.
Consider your subscription tolerance first
WHOOP is not simply a conventional tracker purchase. The device, software access, feature set, and membership term are interconnected. If you reject mandatory recurring fees, compare a subscription-free wearable before committing.
What WHOOP really costs
Using the listed U.S. annual prices, the membership-only arithmetic is:
| Plan | One year | Two years |
|---|---|---|
| One | $199 | $398 |
| Peak | $239 | $478 |
| Life | $359 | $718 |
These calculations exclude tax, promotions, future renewal changes, and accessories. They are not guarantees of future pricing.
Accessories are additional. WHOOP’s U.S. shop lists compatible bands, with price signals commonly around $39 for CoreKnit, $49 for SuperKnit, $59 for SportFlex, and $79 for Navigator, while Luxe, LeatherLuxe, and specialty options cost more. Check the official shop for current prices and compatibility.
Recommended Free Tools
Do not describe the hardware as economically “free.” It may be included in a membership bundle or upgrade offer, but you are paying for a membership commitment.

How to upgrade from WHOOP 4.0
WHOOP’s current upgrade flow is account-specific. The app or checkout screen is the final authority on your eligibility, fee, extension requirement, renewal date, and total.
- Open the WHOOP app and sign in to the account containing your active membership.
- Open the membership, account, or upgrade area.
- Select the available WHOOP 5.0/Peak offer or the Life/MG offer.
- Before confirming, check your current plan, remaining membership time, amount due today, extension length, next billing date, renewal price, included hardware, and charger.
- Complete shipping and address details.
- Pair the new device when it arrives.
- Keep the 4.0 until the new device is working correctly, then follow WHOOP’s instructions for upcycling or disposal.
Potential upgrade fees
WHOOP’s support material indicates that a 5.0 upgrade through Peak may show a $49 fee. Members with 12 months or more remaining may qualify for a free 5.0 upgrade on Peak, while some members can receive 5.0 or MG hardware by purchasing a 12- or 24-month extension.
A separate membership-pricing support page describes a $79 fee for the Life/MG path. Do not apply the $49 amount universally to MG. Your account’s live offer controls.
Founding-member status, remaining membership time, region, and the source of your original purchase can affect eligibility. See WHOOP’s upgrade guidance and membership-pricing guidance before paying.
If the upgrade option is missing
- Update the WHOOP app.
- Confirm that you are using the correct active account.
- Check whether your membership is managed through a reseller, team, or special arrangement.
- Confirm that the offer is available in your country.
- Check whether remaining membership time affects eligibility.
- Contact WHOOP support before purchasing a second membership.
Buying a new membership first can create overlapping billing or make account migration harder.
Do you have to return WHOOP 4.0?
WHOOP’s support material says members upgrading to 5.0 or MG are encouraged to upcycle their 4.0 by giving it to a friend or family member. It does not indicate a general requirement to return the 4.0 for a normal upgrade. Follow the instructions in your specific offer, especially when the original purchase came from an authorized reseller or special promotion.

Trials, renewals, cancellations, and returns
Trial conversion
WHOOP’s return-policy page says a trial must be canceled within the trial period and the device and charger returned to avoid conversion into a paid membership. It states that a trial can convert to a 12-month Peak membership at $239 per year if no action is taken, although the terms shown at your checkout should control.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Record the trial end date as soon as you start.
- Decide before that date whether to keep the device.
- Cancel through the account or support process if necessary.
- Follow the return instructions.
- Keep tracking information and proof of shipment.
- Do not assume deleting the app cancels billing.
Downgrading
WHOOP says a scheduled downgrade preserves your current benefits until the renewal date, after which the lower tier takes effect. WHOOP also says downgrading does not produce a refund. Moving away from Life may remove access to MG-exclusive features; do not assume a downgrade automatically exchanges MG for 5.0.
Returning an upgrade
WHOOP’s return policy says 5.0 or MG devices may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a full refund, minus shipping costs, subject to the policy. It also says an upgrade fee can be refunded when qualifying hardware is returned within the applicable window.
Another support page warns that 4.0-to-5.0/MG upgrades may be non-refundable once the device has shipped. The safest reading is that cancellation after shipment may be restricted while a qualifying post-delivery return may remain available. Verify the live policy and obtain return authorization before sending anything back. Start promptly and retain shipping proof.
For purchases from an authorized reseller, WHOOP says returns must generally go through the original point of sale and follow that seller’s policy. Review both policies before buying.
Subscription-free alternatives
Polar Loop
Polar Loop is a screen-free, subscription-free fitness band with up to eight days of battery and four weeks of onboard memory. It is a credible choice if avoiding WHOOP’s recurring fee matters more than reproducing WHOOP’s coaching ecosystem. It is not a one-for-one replacement for WHOOP’s recovery software or MG features.
Best Value
- HSA/FSA ELIGIBLE: All 12-month WHOOP memberships and WHOOP battery packs are eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
- LONG-LASTING POWER – Keep your WHOOP device powered for over 14 days on a single charge with the waterproof* USBC Wireless PowerPack.
- EASY TO USE – Charge your Wireless PowerPack, slide the battery onto your device while you wear it, and get a full charge without losing a second of data.
- SAFE & RELIABLE – Designed with safety in mind, the Wireless PowerPack features overcharge and short-circuit protection.
- COMPACT & PORTABLE – The Wireless Charger is compact and lightweight, so you can take it with you wherever you go. Whether you're traveling, winding down, or simply need to boost your WHOOP battery life, the Wireless Charger is the perfect solution. Not compatible with WHOOP 4.0.
Oura Ring
Oura is a ring-shaped alternative for sleep and readiness. Oura says users without an active membership retain only limited information, including the three daily scores, battery, basic profile information, settings, and Explore content. It may suit sleep-first users who prefer a ring, but it is less suitable for people who dislike rings during lifting or manual work.
Conventional trackers and smartwatches
Garmin, Apple Watch, Fitbit, Polar, and Amazfit devices may be better fits when you want a screen, built-in GPS, notifications, conventional workout tools, or a device that remains usable without a mandatory WHOOP-style membership. Compare the upfront hardware cost, optional versus mandatory software fees, battery life, sleep and recovery metrics, data export, and ecosystem compatibility.
Before you confirm: a cost-and-upgrade checklist
- Is this the U.S. price, and has it been date-checked?
- What plan and device are included?
- What is due today, including tax and any upgrade fee?
- What is the next billing date and renewal price?
- Is an extension required?
- Does the plan include the charger and band you actually want?
- What is the trial deadline or return deadline?
- Would a subscription-free tracker meet your needs?
- Are MG’s features genuinely important, rather than simply attractive-sounding?
Final verdict
Buy WHOOP One for the lowest listed annual cost and core recovery features. Buy WHOOP Peak for the best balance of price, hardware, and software. Buy WHOOP Life with MG only when its specific ECG, AFib, or blood-pressure features justify $120 more per year than Peak—and never treat those features as a substitute for medical care.
Upgrade from 4.0 when the account-specific offer is favorable or when longer battery life and newer features solve a real problem. If the offer requires an expensive extension, you may cancel soon, or recurring fees are unacceptable, keeping 4.0 or choosing a subscription-free alternative may be the financially better decision.
Prices and terms can change. Before payment, rely on the current checkout screen and the applicable WHOOP return policy.
