Fifty Fiona Stanley Hospital employees shared a $4 million Division One prize from Lotterywest’s Saturday Lotto Superdraw on 5 August 2023. Their syndicate held one of three winning tickets sold in Western Australia; the ticket was bought at Eden Hill Newsagency in Bassendean.
Who won the $4 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw?
The winning ticket belonged to a workplace syndicate of 50 Fiona Stanley Hospital employees. Lotterywest confirmed the group and the ticket’s purchase location in its 9 August 2023 announcement. The members included orderlies, nurses, cleaners and supplies staff.
The win was part of the Saturday Lotto Superdraw held on 5 August 2023, not a later draw. Lotterywest’s official result lists five Division One winning tickets nationally and a $20 million Division One prize pool. Three winning tickets were sold in WA, each worth $4 million; the hospital syndicate held one.
How much did each syndicate member get?
PerthNow reported an approximate share of $80,000 for each of the 50 members, the simple division of the $4 million prize by 50. That is a reported estimate, not confirmation of each person’s actual payment or after-tax proceeds. The available announcements do not document the members’ individual shares, how the prize was distributed in practice, or anyone’s personal financial outcome. PerthNow’s 9 August 2023 report identifies the per-person figure as about $80,000.

Where was the winning ticket bought?
The Slikpik was bought at Eden Hill Newsagency in Bassendean, Perth. Lotterywest described it as a Slikpik, meaning a ticket with randomly selected numbers under its current ways-to-play guidance. That general explanation does not establish the exact ticket structure or share paperwork used by this 2023 group.
How did the hospital syndicate find out?
Lotterywest said the organiser learned about the win at work, messaged the group and called members who were not on social media. The operator did not name her in its announcement; PerthNow identified the organiser as Josephine George and reported that she had run the syndicate for nine months. George told the newspaper: “It was total disbelief, I was gobsmacked.”
Lotterywest’s account distinguishes two workplace groups managed by the organiser: a Saturday Lotto group and a Powerball group. It said the Powerball group put a small win from the previous week toward a Superdraw ticket, while the Saturday group had won Division Two a couple of weeks earlier. PerthNow separately reported a progression from a third-division win to a second-division win and then Division One. These earlier-win details come from the respective reports and should not be treated as a verified history of one ticket.
What did members say they might do with the money?
PerthNow reported individual reactions from members, including internal logistics coordinator Beau Hagger, who said: “Unfortunately, it will mostly go to offsetting the mortgage.” That was his stated plan, not evidence that a mortgage was later paid down. The report also described the group as including supplies staff, cleaners, orderlies and one clinical nurse specialist; Lotterywest’s announcement used the broader role descriptions of orderlies, nurses, cleaners and supplies staff.

What the result does—and does not—tell you about syndicates
Lotterywest’s general guidance defines a syndicate as a group sharing the cost of tickets and any winnings. A workplace arrangement can pool participation, but this win does not show that syndicates improve the odds of a particular ticket or guarantee a return. Lotterywest’s current general descriptions do not establish whether this group used formally registered shares or another arrangement.
The draw result gives the winning numbers as 24, 18, 1, 43, 2 and 36, with supplementary numbers 31 and 9. The prize and winner details above refer specifically to the 5 August 2023 Superdraw and its announced results.
