Reading FC’s company-details page identifies Redwood Holdings Limited as the club’s owner and lists Robert Emmett Couhig Jnr and Todd Trosclair as directors. Companies House lists THE READING FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED, company number 00053703, as active.
How the 2025 takeover moved from proposal to change of control
3 May 2025: sale announced in principle
Reading FC announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited on 3 May 2025. The club said the proposed deal included the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground, while noting that formal completion remained subject to final legal technicalities. That announcement described the proposed transaction at the time; it is not, by itself, proof of the final terms.
14 May 2025: Companies House records control and director changes
Companies House records Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd becoming a person with significant control on 14 May 2025, the previous person with significant control ceasing that same day, and appointments of Robert Emmet Couhig and Todd Patrick Trosclair as directors. Read alongside the club’s current owner listing, those filings support the conclusion that the announced sale proceeded to a change in control.

The company overview shows accounts made up to 30 June 2025. Its filing history records that group accounts for that period were filed on 30 March 2026. These dates confirm filings, but do not establish the owners’ investment commitments or the club’s current financial health.
What is not established about the deal?
The available company and club records do not establish the purchase price, full financing terms, or the owners’ forward investment commitments. They also do not establish the club’s current debt position. Treat those details as unconfirmed unless supported by direct evidence.
What rules would apply to a future takeover?
The EFL says a potential acquisition of control is subject to both EFL and Independent Football Regulator (IFR) requirements. Its guidance says the IFR’s Owners, Directors and Senior Executives (ODSE) regime began on 5 May 2026. The EFL describes suitability considerations including honesty and integrity, financial soundness, financial resources, and competence. This is the general framework; it does not establish the outcome of any particular approval process.

On 13 May 2025, a Government response to a parliamentary petition said a sale “appears to be imminent.” That was a contemporaneous assessment before the Companies House control-change filings, not a current statement about the takeover. In the same response, Stephanie Peacock, then Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, said: “Any sale needs to be the right one, to the right custodians for that team.”
