Midea Group Co., Ltd. is a publicly listed Chinese company. In its 2024 annual report, Midea named Midea Holding as its controlling shareholder and He Xiangjian as its actual controller. Its appliances are made through a multinational manufacturing network, so the brand’s Chinese ownership does not establish where any particular appliance was assembled.
Who owns Midea?
Midea Group Co., Ltd. is the parent company behind the Midea brand. It is publicly listed, which means its shares are held by investors rather than the entire company being owned by one person. Midea’s 2024 annual-report disclosure identifies Midea Holding as the group’s controlling shareholder and He Xiangjian as its actual controller. Those terms describe control; they do not mean He Xiangjian is Midea’s sole owner.

That ownership description is based on the 2024 annual report and is time-sensitive. A later annual report or regulatory filing may report a changed structure.
Is Midea a Chinese company?
Yes. Midea Group is a Chinese company, and its corporate profile says it was founded in 1968. Its international manufacturing footprint does not change the group’s corporate identity: products bearing the Midea brand may be manufactured in different countries.

Where are Midea appliances made?
Midea operates a broad manufacturing network rather than making every appliance in one country. In its 2025 interim report, the company said it increased production capacity during the first half of 2025 in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. These are examples of overseas capacity expansion, not a complete factory list or a guide to the origin of any particular product.
Midea’s corporate profile describes more than 400 subsidiaries, 41 research and development centers, and 68 major production bases. These are company-reported figures in that profile and may change; they describe the group’s footprint, not the number of factories making a specific appliance model.

How to find where your Midea appliance was made
- Check the appliance’s rating plate or country-of-origin label. Look on the product itself, commonly near its serial or model number, or consult its packaging if you still have it.
- Match the model number to its official documentation. Use the model identifier on the appliance to find the relevant manual or product information for your market. A broad brand or factory list cannot confirm the origin of that unit.
- Ask Midea support if the label or documentation is unclear. Provide the full model and serial details so the answer can be specific to the appliance.
The reviewed corporate disclosures do not provide a model-by-model map linking current appliances and sales markets to assembly countries. The label or model-specific official information is therefore the useful evidence for an individual unit.

Midea’s product categories include air treatment, such as residential and commercial air conditioning; refrigeration; laundry; large and small kitchen and cooking appliances; water appliances; floor care; and lighting. Its corporate profile also describes a wider technology group spanning smart home, industrial technology, building technologies, robotics and automation, energy, healthcare, and smart logistics. A category list does not imply that all products in that category come from the same factory.
