Who Owns AdultFriendFinder—and Is It Making Hundreds of Millions?

AdultFriendFinder is operated by Various, Inc. within FriendFinder Networks. The group reported $331.3 million in 2011 and $314.4 million in 2012, but neither figure is AdultFriendFinder’s standalone revenue or evidence of current earnings.

AdultFriendFinder is operated by Various, Inc., a subsidiary of FriendFinder Networks Inc. Historical filings show FriendFinder Networks reported hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue in 2011 and 2012, but those totals covered the wider company—not AdultFriendFinder alone. The available evidence does not establish the site’s current revenue or confirm that the company is currently earning hundreds of millions.

Who owns and operates AdultFriendFinder?

AdultFriendFinder’s Terms of Use, last updated September 5, 2024, identify Various, Inc. as the service entity and say it is a subsidiary of FriendFinder Networks Inc. The terms also name Ventnor Enterprise Limited, Magnus Processing PTY Ltd. and Sinric Processing Pte Ltd. as subsidiaries. For users in the EU, Australia and Singapore, respectively, those regional entities act as agents on behalf of Various, Inc. AdultFriendFinder’s Terms of Use govern use of the site and its services.

That describes the service’s stated corporate structure; it does not by itself identify the individuals who currently own FriendFinder Networks. A January 3, 2023 opinion from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York describes Andrew Conru as FriendFinder Networks’ founder and the Andrew B. Conru Trust as the company’s largest shareholder in the context of that case. The opinion does not give a current ownership percentage or a complete, up-to-date ownership register. The court opinion is a dated account, not proof of today’s beneficial ownership.

A separate 2024 federal court opinion recounts that Conru founded the company that became FriendFinder Networks, sold it in 2007, and that the company went bankrupt in 2013. Those are historical facts from that case’s background, not a description of current ownership. The 2024 opinion provides that historical context.

Do the “hundreds of millions” belong to AdultFriendFinder?

No site-specific revenue figure is established by the available filings. The hundreds-of-millions figures refer to FriendFinder Networks as a whole, and they are more than a decade old:

Reporting year Reported net revenue What the figure covers
2011 $331.3 million FriendFinder Networks Inc. company-wide net revenue for the year ended December 31, 2011. The filing says most company revenue and earnings came from adult-themed community websites, including AdultFriendFinder, but does not state the site’s individual contribution. 2011 annual report.
2012 $314.4 million FriendFinder Networks Inc. company-wide net revenue for the year ended December 31, 2012. The filing lists AdultFriendFinder among its most heavily visited sites and describes subscription fees as a network revenue model; it does not report AdultFriendFinder’s revenue separately. 2012 annual report.

The distinction matters: a group may own or operate multiple sites and businesses, so its consolidated revenue cannot be attributed to one brand without a site-level disclosure. The filings support the historical group totals above, not a claim that AdultFriendFinder itself generated either amount.

How did FriendFinder Networks make money?

The 2012 annual report describes subscription fees across the network. Its 2011 filing says adult-themed community websites—including AdultFriendFinder—provided most of the group’s revenue and earnings that year. These filings explain the historical business model, but they do not show the company’s present-day revenue mix.

A 2017 Delaware Court of Chancery opinion also describes historical affiliate sites sending traffic to FriendFinder network sites in return for a portion of resulting subscription fees. The court opinion documents an arrangement in the past; it does not establish that an affiliate program is currently accepting publishers or specify current rates or terms.

What is known about current revenue and ownership?

The cited material does not establish current annual revenue for FriendFinder Networks, current revenue for AdultFriendFinder, or a current comprehensive list of the company’s beneficial owners. The most concrete revenue amounts are 2011 and 2012 group-level results, while the shareholder detail comes from a 2023 court opinion discussing a particular dispute. Neither supports a present-tense claim that AdultFriendFinder is making hundreds of millions.
