To find out who made a particular battery, read the label on that unit or the specifications on its product page.
Why there is no single answer
EverStart is a Walmart brand, not a battery factory. The store sells the batteries under its own name, while the physical manufacturing is handled by outside companies. Because those suppliers can change between models and over time, a single maker name for the whole brand would be inaccurate. The practical question for a buyer is therefore not “who makes Walmart batteries” in general, but “who made this exact battery.”
What Walmart says about EverStart suppliers
Walmart’s current EverStart guidance makes three points that matter for shoppers:
- Third-party manufacturers produce the EverStart line, including the EverStart Maxx batteries.
- The specific producer can vary by model, region, and production date.
- For a given unit, the battery label or the product page’s specifications are the places to check.
Walmart does not publish a current, model-by-model list of suppliers, so no general list can be treated as settled.

The Clarios reference and its limits
One customer review on a Walmart listing for the EverStart Platinum AGM H4 battery says the unit shipped from Clarios. That is a single reviewer’s account of one model, and it is not confirmed by Walmart in the sources reviewed for this article. It does not show that Clarios makes EverStart batteries in general, and it says nothing about other models, regions, or production runs. Treat it as a lead to verify on your own unit, not as the brand’s manufacturer.
EverStart is a Walmart private-label brand
Walmart’s 2020 annual report lists EverStart among its U.S. private-label brands. That confirms the brand’s status as a store label. The report is from 2020 and does not provide a current supplier list, so it is useful for understanding who owns the brand, not for identifying who builds a battery today.

How to identify the maker of the battery you are buying
- Open the exact model listing. Search Walmart.com for EverStart and select the specific model, such as Value, Plus, Maxx, or Platinum, and the group size you need. Note that the listing is tied to one model.
- Check the specifications section. Review the listed specifications on that product page for any manufacturer or supplier information. Walmart’s guidance points buyers to the current specifications for this purpose.
- Confirm the label once you have the battery. The label on the unit itself is the most direct source. If you are buying in a store, you can read it before purchase. If you are buying online, check it when the battery arrives.
- Record what you find. Note the model, group size, and any manufacturer or date information. If you later need to compare batteries or check a replacement, this record saves time.
Check fit before you check the maker
Who made a battery matters less than whether it fits your vehicle. Walmart’s category guidance recommends matching three things: battery group size, cold-cranking amps (CCA), and reserve capacity. Start with your owner’s manual, the label on your current battery, or vehicle-specific fitment information, then compare those requirements with the product you are considering.
As an example, Walmart’s listing for the EverStart Value 12-volt lead-acid automotive battery in Group 26R shows 575 CCA and 90 minutes of reserve capacity. Those are the specifications of that one listing, not values that apply to every EverStart battery. A different vehicle may need a different group size or a higher CCA rating.

Search wording that works
Two plain-language questions match how shoppers actually search, and they lead to the same answer. “Who makes EverStart Maxx batteries?” is the wording used in Walmart’s current EverStart FAQ. “Who manufactures EverStart Plus batteries for Walmart?” appears in a Walmart category FAQ. Both answers should be read the same way: the maker depends on the model and production, and the label or specifications are the authority.
