Steven Spielberg is the richest celebrity in Forbes’s 2026 celebrity-billionaire ranking, with an estimated net worth of $7.1 billion as of March 1, 2026. That answer is specific to Forbes’s definition of a celebrity: someone who became famous before becoming very wealthy.
How Forbes defines the richest celebrity
Forbes’s list is not a universal ranking of every famous person’s wealth. It includes people who became famous first and then amassed great wealth, while excluding people whose fame came from being wealthy or from business success. The superlative therefore means Spielberg is first within that editorial category, not necessarily under every possible definition of “celebrity.”

Forbes’s 2026 feature, published March 10 and updated March 13, lists 22 celebrity billionaires with valuations dated March 1, 2026. Their combined estimated wealth is $48.1 billion. The previous year’s list contained 18 celebrities with a combined $39 billion, according to the 2026 feature.
Spielberg’s estimate and the other leading fortunes
In Forbes’s March 1 snapshot, Spielberg is estimated at $7.1 billion. The next two people on the same list are George Lucas at $5.2 billion and Michael Jordan at $4.3 billion. These are estimated net-worth figures, not annual income, box-office receipts, or cash balances.
#1 Best Overall
| Forbes 2026 celebrity ranking | Estimated net worth | Valuation date |
|---|---|---|
| Steven Spielberg, #1 | $7.1 billion | March 1, 2026 |
| George Lucas, #2 | $5.2 billion | March 1, 2026 |
| Michael Jordan, #3 | $4.3 billion | March 1, 2026 |
Forbes later displayed Spielberg at $7.9 billion on his real-time profile as of October 2, 2026. That is a later estimate, not a revision to the March ranking snapshot; real-time profiles and dated list valuations should not be treated as interchangeable.
Where Spielberg’s wealth comes from
Forbes identifies movies as Spielberg’s source of wealth. It also notes that he co-founded DreamWorks in 1994 with Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, and that his Universal Orlando consulting work is connected to a share of ticket revenue from the theme parks.
Rank #2
The Universal agreement is a notable but easily misread part of the story. Bloomberg reports that the consulting agreement lasts in perpetuity and that Comcast’s annual report gave it a carrying value of $1.1 billion at the end of 2024. That is the company-reported carrying value of the agreement—not a stated payment to Spielberg, nor a disclosed total of his personal assets.
Some components remain opaque. Bloomberg says it excludes undisclosed proceeds related to Spielberg’s DreamWorks SKG equity and that details of the Amblin Partners–Netflix deal were not disclosed. Its profile also describes deductions and assumptions in its own calculation. Bloomberg reports that Spielberg’s spokesman declined to comment on his net worth.

Net worth is an estimate of assets minus liabilities, not an audited personal balance sheet or a confirmed bank balance. A publisher’s figure can depend on how it values private business interests, contracts, real estate, investments, taxes, and other liabilities—and on what information is available. Forbes’s March figure and its later real-time display are therefore best read as estimates attached to their respective dates and methodologies, not as exact amounts Spielberg has publicly confirmed.
