Paul McCartney is the richest Beatle in the contemporary published comparisons reviewed: Parade’s November 2025 ranking estimates his net worth at $1.2 billion. That is a secondary estimate, not an audited personal balance sheet. The most clearly identified rich-list figure is different in scope: the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List put McCartney and his wife, Nancy Shevell, at a combined £1 billion, as reported by the Associated Press.
How much is each Beatle estimated to be worth?
Parade’s November 26, 2025 ranking gives these estimates for the Beatles’ four principal members. The dollar figures are attributed there to celebrity-finance estimate sources; they are not a uniform, audited comparison.

| Rank | Member or estate | Estimate | Attribution and year | Subject measured |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Paul McCartney | $1.2 billion | Parade, 2025; secondary article estimate | Living member |
| 2 | John Lennon | $800 million | Parade, 2025, attributing the estimate to Finance Monthly | Lennon’s estate |
| 3 | George Harrison | $400 million | Parade, 2025, attributing the estimate to Celebrity Net Worth | Harrison’s estate |
| 4 | Ringo Starr | $350 million | Parade, 2025, attributing the estimate to Celebrity Net Worth | Living member |
These figures come from Parade’s November 2025 ranking. They are not directly comparable: valuation dates, methods, and assets included can differ, and Lennon’s and Harrison’s figures refer to estates rather than living individuals.
What does the £1 billion figure for McCartney mean?
The Associated Press reported that the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List estimated Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell’s combined wealth at £1 billion. The list attributed £50 million of that combined amount to Shevell. This is a couple-level estimate in pounds, not a separate estimate of McCartney’s individual net worth, and it should not be merged with Parade’s later $1.2 billion figure.

According to the AP’s account of the list, the couple’s wealth had risen by £50 million from the previous year. The report cited McCartney’s 2023 Got Back tour, the value of his catalogue, and renewed attention to Beatles music after Beyoncé covered “Blackbird.” These are reported factors in the list’s calculation, not a full public breakdown of assets or liabilities. Read the Associated Press report.
Why are Lennon’s and Harrison’s figures called estate estimates?
John Lennon and George Harrison have died, so current wealth rankings describe their estates rather than personal wealth they hold today. An estate’s value can reflect assets and rights managed after death; it is not interchangeable with the net worth of a living musician. The Parade ranking supplies estimates, but the sources cited here do not provide audited estate accounts or a common valuation method across all four members.

Celebrity Net Worth also publishes retrospective historical estimates: it puts Lennon at $200 million and McCartney at around $400 million at Lennon’s death in 1980, and estimates Harrison at $100 million in 1980 and $400 million at his death in 2001. These are that site’s retrospective estimates, not independently verified financial statements. They are useful only as attributed historical estimates, not as a consistent basis for recalculating present-day wealth. Celebrity Net Worth’s McCartney profile includes the historical comparisons.
Why was McCartney’s wealth higher than the others’?
McCartney’s wealth reflects a long career beyond the Beatles, including his solo and Wings work, touring, and the value associated with his back catalogue. The AP’s account of the 2024 rich list specifically cited his touring and catalogue, alongside renewed attention to Beatles songs. The available figures do not isolate how much each source contributes or establish comparable ownership shares among the former members.

- In their short eight-year career from 1962-1970, The Beatles changed music forever
Songwriting earnings were already part of contemporary explanations for the difference. A 1967 Time interview, reproduced by The Paul McCartney Project, said the most conservative estimates put Harrison and Starr at $3 million each and Lennon and McCartney at $4 million each “because of their extra earnings as songwriters”; it added that the totals could be twice as high. Those are 1967 estimates, not modern values or a precise accounting of songwriting rights. Read the reproduced 1967 interview.

A celebrity net-worth figure is not the same as annual income, royalty payments in a particular year, company revenue, or the sale value of a music catalogue. It is an estimate of wealth under a source’s chosen assumptions. The cited sources do not offer audited, comparable balance sheets for all four Beatles, so the rankings show who is placed highest by those published estimates—not a verified accounting of each person’s assets and debts.
