Is the Rainbow Sheikh really worth $20 billion?
There is no verified personal net-worth figure established by the reporting available here. Road & Track’s 2019 article attributed a US$20 billion estimate to Time Magazine, while the 2026 Times of India report also discusses the figure. Neither source supplies an audited personal balance sheet or a clear accounting of which assets belong to Sheikh Hamad personally rather than to family or other entities. Treat $20 billion as a reported estimate, not a confirmed valuation of his fortune or an independently documented “empire.”
What is known about the rainbow Mercedes cars?
Times of India reported in 2026 that Sheikh Hamad ordered seven Mercedes-Benz S-Class saloons in coordinated colors. The same account repeats a story that Mercedes halted factory production to fulfill the commission, but says Mercedes has never publicly confirmed that stoppage. The order and the production-halt anecdote should therefore be distinguished: the former is a reported claim, while the latter remains unverified by the manufacturer.

What can visitors see at the Emirates National Auto Museum?
The museum is a central public setting for the collection, but descriptions should be dated rather than treated as a current visitor guide. In a first-person account of a January 2019 visit, Road & Track’s Máté Petrány described a pyramid-shaped building and estimated that it housed around 200 cars. He also reported seeing a giant globe-shaped caravan, which he said had nine guest rooms and bathrooms, and an oversized Jeep he described as a Guinness World Record holder for the largest operational scale model.
Petrány noted that many vehicles were covered or behind fences and that the museum had few information boards during his visit. Those are observations from 2019; they do not establish what is currently on display, how the museum is arranged today, or its present opening hours, prices, or visitor rules.

Does the collection hold a 718-vehicle record?
Times of India reported in 2026 that Guinness World Records lists Sheikh Hamad’s collection as containing 718 four-wheel-drive vehicles. Because the direct Guinness record entry was not independently reviewed, attribute the number to that reporting rather than presenting it as a separately confirmed record. The figure describes a reported 4×4 collection record, not the total number of vehicles currently on museum display.

The label combines a widely repeated wealth estimate with a highly visible vehicle collection, but the two should not be confused. The cars and museum displays make the collection a public spectacle; they do not establish the value of Sheikh Hamad’s total personal assets. Without a verified valuation and asset breakdown, it is not possible to say from these reports how much of the estimate represents personal wealth, family wealth, or other holdings.
