When did Srini Gopalan become T-Mobile’s CEO?
Three dates clarify the transition: the Board appointed Gopalan on September 19, 2025; T-Mobile announced the decision on September 22; and the appointment took effect November 1. The dates come from the company’s announcement and its Form 8-K filing.
Gopalan was T-Mobile’s chief operating officer before the appointment. The company’s announcement quotes then-CEO Mike Sievert: “I couldn’t be more excited to announce Srini Gopalan as our next CEO.” Gopalan said, “I am honored and grateful for the trust Mike and the Board have placed in me, and for the opportunity to lead T‑Mobile’s next chapter.”
What role does Mike Sievert have now?
On November 1, 2025, Sievert ceased to be President and CEO and became Vice Chairman of T-Mobile and its Board. He remained in a management role, with the company saying he would advise on long-term strategy, innovation, talent development, and external relations. What is Srini Gopalan’s background?
Gopalan brought experience at T-Mobile and other telecom and technology companies. Before becoming CEO, he served as T-Mobile’s COO, leading its Technology, Consumer, and Business groups, according to the company’s announcement.
T-Mobile’s SEC filing lists his previous roles as Managing Director of Telekom Deutschland from October 2020 to February 2025, and as a member of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management responsible for its Europe segment from January 2017 to October 2020. It also lists senior roles at Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone. The filing provides the role dates and details in its executive appointment disclosure.

What priorities has T-Mobile set under Gopalan?
T-Mobile’s 2025 annual report identifies Gopalan as President and CEO and describes company-stated priorities for 2026. They include extending 5G leadership; advancing AI-native and 6G capabilities; improving customer journeys; streamlining technology platforms and processes; evolving employee tools; and growing wireless, broadband, and emerging businesses. In its September 22 announcement, T-Mobile said it had added “more than $200 billion” in market capitalization during Sievert’s leadership. That is the company’s account of its past performance, not an independently verified comparison of the executives.
