A.J. Scaramucci bought Logan Paul’s PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator card at a Goldin auction in February 2026. Guinness World Records lists the final sale total as $16,492,000, including the buyer’s premium. The Associated Press identifies Scaramucci as a venture capitalist and the son of Anthony Scaramucci.
Who bought Logan Paul’s Pikachu Illustrator card?
The buyer was A.J. Scaramucci. Paul sold the card through Goldin’s February 2026 auction; Guinness World Records records the result as $16,492,000 including buyer’s premium. The Associated Press independently confirmed Scaramucci’s identity.
The $16,492,000 figure is the auction’s final total, not the winning bid before fees. Guinness reports that the winning bid was $13.3 million before the buyer’s premium. Those figures describe different parts of the same transaction and should not be compared as though both were hammer prices. Guinness World Records’ 2026 coverage gives the record details; the Associated Press report names the buyer.
How the 2021 purchase differs from the 2026 sale
Marwan Dubsy was the seller in Paul’s earlier transaction, not the buyer at the 2026 auction. Guinness World Records says Paul acquired the card from Dubsy in Dubai in 2021 through a private trade valued at $5,275,000. Paul exchanged another Pikachu Illustrator graded PSA 9, valued at $1,275,000, and added $4 million in cash. The parties reportedly reached agreement after five months of negotiation and completed the trade on July 22, 2021.

The first figure is the stated value of a private trade; the second transaction’s final total includes an auction premium. They are not identical kinds of price measure. Guinness’s 2022 account of Paul’s acquisition describes the trade terms.
What makes the card unusual—and what PSA 10 means
Pikachu Illustrator was awarded to winners of a 1998 Pokémon illustration contest rather than sold as a normal retail card. Guinness says 39 cards were awarded and that the card was designed by Atsuko Nishida. The copy Paul sold was identified in Guinness’s 2026 coverage as the only known PSA Gem Mint 10 example.

That “only” refers to the known population at that grade; it does not mean there is only one Pikachu Illustrator card. PSA 10 is a condition grade, not a print-run count. Guinness’s 2022 explanation describes PSA’s grading scale as 0 to 10 and says a PSA 10 card has attributes including sharp corners, sharp focus and original gloss.

The record price combined several features: a rare contest-prize card, an exceptionally high grade, Paul’s public profile and a widely reported auction result. Paul’s own earlier acquisition was already a headline-making private trade. In describing the $1,275,000 PSA 9 card he later traded away, Paul said: “I have never spent this much money on a physical asset.” That quote referred to his earlier PSA 9 purchase, not the PSA 10 card’s 2026 auction price.
