Corum returned to Swiss ownership through a management buyout led by Haso Mehmedovic, its former international sales director, with backing from Swiss investors. Corum announced the deal on April 30, 2025; its official brand page says the buyout was finalized on May 5, 2025.

Who bought Corum?

Haso Mehmedovic led the management buyout alongside a group of Swiss investors with experience in luxury and finance. Before the deal, Mehmedovic was Corum’s international sales director. Corum says he joined the company as a watchmaker in 2011 and advanced through its roles before completing the buyout and becoming chairman and CEO.

The seller was Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group Limited, a Hong Kong-listed company that had owned Corum since 2013. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry described the transaction as a return to 100% Swiss ownership. That phrase describes the ownership outcome; the sources do not disclose a purchase price, the investors’ individual stakes, or a breakdown of financing.

What changed—and what stayed in Switzerland?

Area Before the buyout After the buyout
Ownership Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group had owned Corum since 2013. A management buyout led by Mehmedovic and backed by Swiss investors; the Federation described the result as 100% Swiss ownership.
Leadership Mehmedovic was Corum’s international sales director. He became chairman and CEO when the buyout was finalized, according to Corum.
Industrial and commercial assets No separate pre-deal asset breakdown is established in the cited transaction reporting. The Federation said industrial and commercial assets, including patents, intellectual property, and archives, would remain in Swiss hands.

The Federation’s May 15, 2025 account said: “All industrial and commercial assets – including patents, intellectual property and archives – will remain in Swiss hands and align with a clear strategic direction.” This reports the stated position on the transaction; it does not establish how the assets or business performed afterward.

  1. 2013: Citychamp became Corum’s owner, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.
  2. April 30, 2025: Corum announced the transaction under the headline “CORUM Returns to Swiss Hands to Shape Its Future.”
  3. May 1, 2025: Swissinfo published Keystone-SDA’s report on the sale.
  4. May 5, 2025: Corum’s brand page gives this as the date the management buyout was finalized.
  5. May 15, 2025: The Federation published its account of the return to Swiss ownership.

The announcement date and the stated completion date are therefore different: Corum publicized the deal on April 30, while its brand page identifies May 5 as the date it was finalized.

What did Corum say the buyout was intended to do?

Corum framed the change as a new chapter aimed at restoring its creative force and reaffirming its identity. These are the company’s stated ambitions, not verified results. Corum also described itself as celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2025.

Swissinfo reported at the time that a global relaunch was planned for mid-2026. That was a contemporaneous plan, not confirmation that a relaunch took place. The transaction announcements alone do not show subsequent sales, production, employment, financial performance, or changes in the product range.

What is known—and not known—about the deal?

  • Established: Citychamp sold Corum through a management buyout led by Mehmedovic and backed by Swiss investors; the Federation described the resulting ownership as 100% Swiss.
  • Not disclosed in the cited accounts: the purchase price, the precise ownership split among Mehmedovic and the investors, and the deal’s financing terms.
  • Not established by the transaction announcement: whether Corum’s stated creative and strategic ambitions produced measurable business results or whether the mid-2026 relaunch occurred.
