As of October 8, 2026, there is no verified complete list of supermarket chains giving away free turkeys for Thanksgiving. BJ’s Wholesale Club has announced that its annual turkey promotion returns October 31, but its 2026 terms are still pending. Shady Maple Farm Market has a current turkey reward, but it is a paid discount—not a free turkey. Other details below are clearly marked as prior-year offers, not current deals.
Confirmed 2026 offers and announcements
BJ’s Wholesale Club: return announced; terms pending
BJ’s official promotion page says, “BJ’s Annual Turkey Promotion returns October 31, 2026. Check back for details.” The announcement confirms the promotion’s return date, but does not yet establish a qualifying purchase, coupon amount, eligible turkey, or redemption deadline. Check the BJ’s promotion page for terms before shopping.
Shady Maple Farm Market: discounted turkey, not free
At its East Earl, Pennsylvania, Farm Market, Shady Maple Rewards members who spend a cumulative $600 from October 1 through November 14, 2026, may buy one 12–16-pound Shady Maple store-brand whole frozen turkey for 50 cents per pound during the November 16–28 redemption period. That is about $6–$8 for the turkey, after meeting the spend requirement; it is not a free giveaway. See Shady Maple’s offer terms.
Prior-year promotions are not confirmed 2026 deals
These retailer offers appeared in earlier years. Unless a chain publishes current 2026 terms, do not assume the old spending rules, dates, products, or redemption methods still apply.

The offer could be redeemed in store or through ShopRite’s own pickup or delivery service, not through Instacart or Marketplace. Those terms are historical; see the 2025 ShopRite offer.
BJ’s: 2025 terms only
In 2025, BJ’s members who spent at least $150 in one transaction from November 1–10 qualified for a coupon worth up to $25 toward a fresh or frozen Butterball turkey. The 2025 announcement included a statement from Dave Rajkovich, then Senior Vice President, Perishables: “We know our members look forward to our free turkey giveaway each year.” See the 2025 BJ’s announcement.
