Which Celebrities Has Coca-Cola Worked With Over the Years? Documented Examples

Coca-Cola sources and a 2016 study document celebrity endorsements across Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Sprite, but they do not establish a definitive ranking of the nine biggest partners.

Coca-Cola’s documented celebrity partnerships include singer Hilda Clark, Diet Coke partner Taylor Swift and Sprite ambassador LeBron James, along with several artists named in a 2016 study. The available evidence does not establish a definitive “biggest nine” ranking: it supports selected examples, not a verified top-nine list. It also spans Coca-Cola and portfolio brands such as Diet Coke and Sprite, which are distinct products.

Why there is no verified ranking of the nine biggest

“Biggest” could mean fame, campaign reach, prominence or length of partnership. The available company announcements and research do not compare celebrities on those measures or establish a ranked top nine. The examples below are therefore documented partnerships and sampled endorsements, not a reconstruction of a particular nine-name list.

Brand attribution matters: an endorsement for Diet Coke or Sprite is associated with a Coca-Cola Company brand, but it is not necessarily an endorsement of Coca-Cola itself. The evidence also varies: company pages describe certain campaigns, while a peer-reviewed study records artists in a sample without providing full campaign histories.

Documented celebrity partnerships

Hilda Clark: a company-stated early milestone

Coca-Cola identifies light opera and dance-hall singer Hilda Clark as its first celebrity endorser, in 1900. That is the company’s historical description of an early endorsement; it should not be taken to mean the arrangement worked like a modern celebrity advertising contract. Taylor Swift: Diet Coke campaigns

Coca-Cola announced Taylor Swift as a Diet Coke partner for the “Stay Extraordinary” campaign, which included television, print and digital advertising. A later campaign, “Get a Taste,” featured a commercial tied to her album 1989 and offered fans a clip from an unreleased track. Coca-Cola’s announcement for that campaign is dated September 26, 2014. These were Diet Coke partnerships, not evidence of a general Coca-Cola endorsement. Stay Extraordinary announcement; Get a Taste announcement

LeBron James: Sprite ambassador and “Tacos” commercial

In a 2017 Big Game announcement, Coca-Cola said LeBron James had been a Sprite brand ambassador since 2003 and starred in the “Tacos” commercial. This is a company-reported start year and a named campaign; it does not establish an independently verified partnership duration or rank James among Coca-Cola’s largest celebrity partners. Artists named in a 2016 endorsement study

A peer-reviewed study published in Pediatrics in 2016 included the following music artists in its sample. The list shows which names appeared in that study’s sample; it does not establish a complete history, campaign details, dates or relative prominence.

Product or brand in the study Artists named in the sample
Coca-Cola Calvin Harris, Christina Aguilera, Daft Punk, Jay-Z, Maroon 5, Of Monsters and Men, and will.i.am
Diet Coke Taylor Swift
Sprite Drake, Imagine Dragons, and Wale

The study also reported more than 312 million YouTube views across 94 sampled celebrity food and nonalcoholic-beverage endorsement videos. That figure covers the study’s broader sample, not Coca-Cola campaigns alone, and the authors cautioned that views could include repeat exposure; it is not a count of unique people. What the evidence can—and cannot—tell you

  • It can identify examples: Coca-Cola company sources document Clark’s early endorsement and specific Diet Coke and Sprite campaigns.
  • It can show names in a defined sample: the 2016 study lists artists by product or brand.
  • It cannot establish “biggest”: these sources do not supply a common measure of fame, reach, campaign impact or partnership length.
  • It cannot verify an original nine-person roster: the evidence here does not substantiate a complete list of nine or the order of any such list.
