What did “this Saturday” mean?
Contemporaneous coverage identified Saturday, March 29, 2025, as the final day for locations on the list that were still open. The wording referred to the 2025 calendar, not a newly announced 2026 closure. ABC News reported the Saturday date in March 2025.
Why did Kohl’s select these stores?
Kohl’s described the locations as underperforming. The company said affected associates had been informed and offered either a competitive severance package or the opportunity to apply for other open roles. CEO Tom Kingsbury said the company considered the decisions seriously and described them as actions intended to support the business’s health and future.

How many stores did Kohl’s operate afterward?
Kohl’s FY2025 Form 10-K reported that the company operated 1,153 stores as of January 31, 2026. That is a company-reported count for that date, not a count for October 2026. Kohl’s FY2025 Form 10-K filed with the SEC provides the figure.
