You can advertise a job without paying upfront, but a free post does not necessarily mean unlimited listings, prominent placement or guaranteed applicants. The best channel depends on the role: Indeed and LinkedIn offer broad reach, while campus, startup, freelance, remote-work and local channels target narrower audiences. Treat the options below as a practical shortlist, not a verified ranking of the 11 sites in the original 2022 article: the available guides date from April 2023 and a page last updated in November 2024.
How to choose a free job-posting channel
Before creating an account, compare the platform’s current terms for your country and the role you need to fill. A free route may have limited features or reach; paid promotion can be a separate option. Indeed, for example, says free posts may become less visible as newer listings appear, while sponsored posts can increase visibility.
- Audience: Does the platform reach the kind of candidates this role needs?
- Geography: Is posting available in your hiring market, and do candidates in that area use the platform?
- Free-tier limits: Check how many posts you can create, how long they stay active and which screening or applicant-management tools are included.
- Visibility: Confirm whether a free listing is organic and whether paid promotion is optional or needed for additional exposure.
Use a specialist channel when its audience fits the vacancy; a broad board is not automatically better for every role. The platform descriptions below reflect the use cases identified in later guides, not a guarantee of candidate quality or current terms.
11 free job boards and channels to consider
1. Indeed: broad job-search reach
Indeed’s employer page describes a free job-posting option and a separate sponsored route for enhanced visibility. Indeed also notes that free listings may become less visible over time as new jobs are added, so a free post should not be treated as equivalent to sponsored placement. Check the current employer terms for your market rather than relying on an assumed posting cap. Indeed for Employers
2. LinkedIn: professional networking
LinkedIn can suit professional roles where networking and candidate profiles matter; the reviewed guides describe free posting with optional promotion and application settings. A Workstream guide from April 2023 reported a one-free-listing-at-a-time limit, but that is dated secondary-source information, not a confirmed current rule. Verify the present limit and terms directly before posting.
3. Jora: another broad-board option
Jora appears in later guides as a free-posting option. Post availability and geographic coverage can vary, and the available evidence does not establish a current universal post count. Check whether it serves your hiring market and what its employer offer includes.

4. Upwork: freelance projects
Upwork is a freelance marketplace, making it more suitable for contract projects than for every conventional employee vacancy. TechRadar describes posting as potentially free, with service fees possible if a contract is made. Review the terms for the work arrangement and market before using it.
5. Wellfound: startup and technology hiring
Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, is identified in the reviewed guides with startup and technology hiring. Workstream describes free and paid employer plans, but plan names and terms can change. Confirm the current offer and decide whether its startup-focused audience matches the opening.
Rank #2
6. Handshake: students and recent graduates
Handshake is associated with campus, student and early-career recruiting. It is a more natural fit for internships and entry-level roles than for senior vacancies aimed at experienced hires. Check eligibility and employer access for the schools or markets you want to reach.
7. FlexJobs: remote and freelance-oriented roles
TechRadar describes FlexJobs as oriented toward remote and freelance listings. It also notes that a free submission is screened and is not guaranteed to appear. That makes it an option to investigate, not a dependable substitute for an immediately published listing.
8. Ladders: higher-salary roles
Ladders is characterized in the later guides as a channel for higher-salary jobs. Workstream’s April 2023 guide associated it with roles at or above $100,000, but that dated description is not established here as a current platform rule. Check the current employer criteria before deciding whether the role fits.
9. Facebook and other local or social channels
TechRadar includes Facebook as a possible local-reach channel, while cautioning that broad reach does not ensure a fit for specialist or high-salary jobs. Product availability may vary by market, so confirm that the relevant employer posting feature is currently offered where you are hiring. Local community groups or social channels may also help with neighborhood hiring, but check group rules and moderate responses carefully.
Rank #4
10. SimplyHired, Talent.com and Jobcase
These platforms appear among the later guides’ additional options. Their inclusion does not establish that every employer can post for free now, or that the same terms apply across countries. Check the live employer offer and audience fit before spending time preparing a listing.
11. Recruiter, Learn4Good, Hubstaff Talent and PostJobFree
These names also appear in one or both reviewed guides. Recruiter is described there as formerly Scouted. The guides do not establish current eligibility, uniform free tiers or consistent availability for every service, so verify each platform’s employer terms before relying on it. Hubstaff Talent may be worth checking for remote-oriented hiring; select any of these only if its present audience and offer fit the role.

Can Google for Jobs make a listing visible for free?
Google for Jobs is not a conventional job board where every employer manually submits an ad. An employer can add JobPosting structured data to a page for a single job on its own website. This can make the page eligible for a job-search experience in Google Search, but does not guarantee that it will appear. Google requires the page to be crawlable, the structured data to match the visible job details, and the page to follow its technical and content policies. Google also documents integrations through third-party job sites. Google Search Central: JobPosting structured data
Keep job pages current
Expired vacancies can remain available in Search if the job page or its structured data stays live. Google’s guidance recommends setting validThrough to a past date, removing the page, or removing its JobPosting markup, as appropriate, and keeping Google informed of changes. Remove or update a listing promptly when the role closes.
