Where Canadians could pre-order the controller
The official product name is DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. Sony included it as a standalone controller in the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection. Sony’s announcement directed buyers in regions without direct.playstation.com to participating retailers; Canada was not among the listed direct.playstation.com markets. Sony’s September 19, 2024 announcement set preorders for September 26, 2024, and the collection’s release for November 21, 2024.
For Canada, MobileSyrup reported a Best Buy Canada preorder listing on September 26, 2024, at CAD $99.99. That is a historical listed price, not a current offer or guidance on what a second-hand or refurbished unit should cost. MobileSyrup’s Canadian preorder report documented the retailer and price at the time.
What current retailer listings do—and don’t—show
Search results have surfaced pages for the controller at Best Buy Canada and Walmart Canada, but a product page or search-result availability label does not establish that a new controller can be ordered. Best Buy’s indexed anniversary page included a refurbished listing marked “Good”; Walmart’s listing showed a marketplace seller, Play Canada. These are distinct from confirmed new stock sold directly by the retailer.

How to assess a listing before paying
- Confirm condition. Make sure the listing explicitly says new, refurbished or used; do not treat a refurbished unit as new.
- Check who sells and fulfils it. A marketplace seller is not the retailer itself. Review the named seller and who handles shipping and returns.
- Review the total price. Compare the live item price and any shipping charges. The reported CAD $99.99 Best Buy price belongs to the 2024 preorder period.
- Check delivery, pickup and returns. Confirm the item can actually be shipped to your address or collected nearby, and read the applicable return terms before checkout.
Why the old preorder date matters
The phrase “pre-order” describes the original 2024 sales window, not a current purchase opportunity. Sony announced the controller as part of a limited-supply anniversary collection, but that announcement does not establish present-day stock. Treat any live retailer page as a listing to inspect—not proof that the original preorder has reopened or that a new unit is available.
