Before buying, check that a card or voucher matches the country or region of the recipient’s PlayStation account. Confirm whether it is digital or physical, its denomination, and its terms. A card sold for one region may not work with an account registered in another.

As a time-sensitive US example, PlayStation’s US page displayed Essential at $10.99 per month, $27.99 every three months, or $79.99 every twelve months when checked on October 8, 2026. These are page prices, not a guaranteed future rate; check the current regional checkout page. The membership continues until cancelled.
Can a PlayStation gift card pay for PS Plus?
PlayStation says Store gift-card value goes into the account wallet and can be used toward eligible subscriptions as well as games and add-ons. However, wallet funds may not be enough to complete a subscription purchase: a payment method on the account may still be required at checkout. Check the requirements shown for the recipient’s account before relying on wallet credit alone.

A direct subscription and a voucher are not always equivalent for an existing member. Depending on the account’s current plan and the voucher’s regional terms, redemption may start a membership, upgrade it, add time at the same level, or convert the voucher into time at a higher level. Check the current terms for the recipient’s region before buying a voucher for someone who already subscribes.

- Open PlayStation Store on the PS5.
- Press the triangle button to open the menu.
- Select More, then Redeem Code.
- Enter the code and follow the on-screen prompts to add the value to the account wallet.
PlayStation also supports online code redemption. Redeem the code on the same account where the recipient wants the wallet balance or membership. The resulting wallet funds are account funds, not cash paid directly to the recipient.

What to check before you pay
- Region: Match the card or voucher to the recipient’s account country or region.
- Product type: Choose a Store wallet card for flexibility, or a PS Plus membership/voucher when the desired tier is known.
- Renewal: PlayStation’s US getting-started guide says recurring membership fees are charged automatically by default until cancellation. After cancellation, membership expires at the end of the already-paid period. Review the account’s renewal settings and checkout terms.
- Existing membership: Check regional voucher rules before buying for a current subscriber; redemption may change the plan or remaining time.
- Wallet checkout: Verify whether a payment method is required even when the wallet has enough funds.
- Changing benefits: Review current catalog availability and local service features before paying for Extra or Premium.
