Lisa Frank remains a private figure, and the sources available do not verify her current residence or day-to-day life. Her company’s story is clearer than her present personal circumstances: Lisa Frank, Inc. rose from stickers to a major school-supply name, then faded from broad public view amid business and leadership turmoil. The brand did not necessarily disappear as a company; later collaborations show activity, but its current operations are not established.
Where is Lisa Frank now?
Lisa Frank is the founder behind the colorful brand, but there is no verified account in the cited reporting of where she lives now or what her daily life is like. TIME describes her as notably private. In 2024, director Arianna LaPenne and executive producer Mary Robertson told KJZZ that Frank declined their requests to be interviewed for the documentary Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story; they said her response was included in the film. KJZZ’s interview does not establish her present circumstances.
The word “CEO” in the question also needs care. TIME identifies James Green as the company’s former president and CEO and reports that he was removed. The sources cited here do not establish Frank’s current corporate title or who leads Lisa Frank, Inc. today.
How Lisa Frank, Inc. grew
From a jewelry business to stickers
TIME reports that Frank studied art at the University of Arizona and first ran a children’s jewelry company called Sticky Fingers. Scripps News reports that she gave the company the Lisa Frank name in 1979, the year it received a large order from Spencer Gifts.

Stickers helped establish the brand, which expanded into folders, Trapper Keepers, pens, pencils, stationery and other school supplies. TIME reports that by the 1990s Lisa Frank had deals with major retailers including Walmart and Target. Its vivid animal and fantasy designs became especially familiar in the back-to-school market.
#1 Best Overall
- INCLUDES: Coloring fun with Cut-out Photo Frame
- 64 PAGES: Artwork featuring your child’s favorite Lisa Frank characters
- LICENSED: Official Lisa Frank licensed product
- IDEAL FOR: Children ages 3 and up
TIME says company revenue reached an estimated $66 million at one point. That is a reported estimate, not an audited figure, and should not be read as a current revenue number.
Why did the Lisa Frank brand seem to disappear?
“Disappeared” is best understood as a decline in cultural visibility and prominence, not proof that the business ceased to exist. The reporting points to several parts of the story, but does not establish one independently verified cause for the brand’s reduced profile.

A major leadership and workplace conflict
According to TIME, James Green joined the company as a full-time artist in 1982 and became president and CEO in 1992. TIME also reports that Frank gave him 49% of the company’s shares. The documentary covers the pair’s relationship and company conflict, and includes former employees’ accounts of workplace conditions and management. Those accounts are attributed to the former workers and documentary coverage; they should not be treated as adjudicated findings.

Scripps News reports that the Tucson-area factory closed in 2013. In 2023, a Lisa Frank social media post captioned “We’re baaaack” showed the facility, prompting questions about a return. Scripps said the post did not clarify what would happen to the building, and the company did not immediately respond to its questions. The post is not confirmation that the factory reopened.

The brand had later licensing activity
The company’s public profile declined, but licensing and collaboration activity continued at least in some form. TIME describes later collaborations including Crocs and Casetify, as well as a licensing dispute with Glamour Dolls. TIME reported that a judge dismissed several claims in September 2024 while other claims were set to proceed; that is not evidence that either side prevailed overall.
Is Lisa Frank still around?
The brand has not been shown to have vanished entirely: the reported later collaborations indicate activity beyond its peak school-supply era. But the sources do not verify Lisa Frank, Inc.’s full operating status, current leadership, ownership, product range or the Tucson facility’s use as of October 2026. The 2023 post and past collaborations cannot establish what the company is doing now.

What the 2024 documentary covers
Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story is a four-part 2024 documentary. Apple TV’s listing identifies Amazon Studios as the studio and describes episodes about the sticker business and its growth, former employees’ accounts, Frank and Green’s relationship and company conflict, and a licensing collaboration with Glamour Dolls. The catalog listing confirms the series’ identity and release year, not that it is currently available in every country or through every streaming service. See Apple TV’s listing.
TIME reproduces a statement from Frank at the end of the documentary: “I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing artists and team members who helped bring my vision to life.” It is a statement presented in the film, not an interview conducted by TIME. TIME’s account of the documentary also covers the company history and leadership chronology.
