Sony’s official schedule set October 10 as the date when preorders opened at other participating retailers. That preorder window has passed: PS5 Pro launched on November 7, 2024.
What was the reported GameStop preorder time?
A GameStop community post published around the preorder period reported that PS5 Pro preorders would go live at 9 a.m. Central on October 10, 2024. The post is not an official GameStop statement, and it does not establish whether the time applied to online orders, in-store reservations, or both. Treat the specific time as an unverified report, not confirmed retailer guidance.

What did Sony officially announce about preorder dates?
Sony announced the PS5 Pro on September 10, 2024, and described a staggered preorder schedule:
- September 26, 2024: Preorders through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers in territories where PlayStation Direct was unavailable.
- October 10, 2024: Preorders at all other participating retailers.
Sony’s schedule confirms the October 10 retailer date, but it does not verify GameStop’s reported 9 a.m. Central start time. Sony’s September 10, 2024 announcement also gave the console an original U.S. MSRP of $699.99.

Is the PS5 Pro preorder window still open?
No. The preorder dates above were in 2024, and Sony released the PS5 Pro on November 7, 2024. A retailer listing or later restock is a separate matter; the historical preorder schedule does not indicate current stock or price. GameStop has a PS5 Pro product listing, but its availability and displayed price can change.
What did the PS5 Pro launch package include?
Sony’s launch announcement listed a disc-less console with a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and Astro’s Playroom pre-installed. Sony said the existing PS5 Disc Drive could be bought separately. If you use physical PS5 games, check whether a drive is included in the specific listing and account for the separate accessory cost when comparing configurations. Sony’s October 10, 2024 launch release confirms the launch package and date.

What performance claims did Sony make?
At announcement, Sony said the PS5 Pro’s GPU had 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the then-current PS5, enabling up to 45% faster rendering. These are Sony’s stated comparisons, not independent test results. They describe the company’s launch positioning rather than a guarantee of the same improvement in every game.
