IndiGo’s Boeing 787-9 flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow began on 26 October 2025, not three weeks from now. The airline announced in July 2026 that it would temporarily stop Heathrow services from 25 October 2026, until its Airbus A350-900 aircraft are delivered. It has not announced a date for the route to resume.

When did IndiGo’s Mumbai–Heathrow service begin?

IndiGo announced daily, direct flights between Mumbai and Heathrow, with service scheduled to start on 26 October 2025. The airline specified the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the route in its 6 October 2025 announcement. Heathrow’s route information lists the service as daily, arriving at and departing from Terminal 3, and gives the same 26 October launch date.

What changes from 25 October 2026?

In a 31 July 2026 announcement, IndiGo said it would end its wide-body damp-lease operations and temporarily discontinue Heathrow services from 25 October 2026, until its Airbus A350-900 aircraft are delivered. The airline’s statement says: “The airline will temporarily discontinue its services to and from London Heathrow until such time that its A350-900s are delivered.”

The announcement does not give a date when Heathrow flights will restart. An aircraft delivery condition is not a published timetable: passengers should check IndiGo’s current booking options and flight updates for their travel dates rather than assume service will resume on a particular day.

What is confirmed—and what is not?

  • Confirmed launch plan: daily direct Mumbai–Heathrow service, scheduled to start 26 October 2025, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
  • Heathrow listing: the route is shown as daily at Terminal 3; its 26 October date is the launch date, not confirmation that flights continue after IndiGo’s later suspension announcement.
  • Announced service change: Heathrow service is to be temporarily discontinued from 25 October 2026, pending delivery of IndiGo’s A350-900s.
  • Not announced: a specific Heathrow restart date.

IndiGo’s October 2025 launch announcement quoted then-CEO Pieter Elbers describing Mumbai and London as “two vibrant, global financial hubs with deep cultural and economic ties.” That statement marked the route’s launch; it does not establish present or future availability.
