Akron Children’s Hospital won the May 2026 auction for the former Notre Dame College campus in South Euclid, Ohio. That is the confirmed change in ownership—not an approved, campus-wide redevelopment plan. A September 2026 city notice shows a conditional-use application for a PreK–8 school at former Regina Hall; broader plans and the details of a proposed rezoning remain unconfirmed in the available public information.
What has been decided—and what has not
The college closed in 2024. In May 2026, Akron Children’s Hospital won the auction for the South Euclid property, according to Cleveland 19. The auction establishes who won the sale, but it does not establish that every possible future use has zoning approval or that a complete redevelopment plan has been approved. The report says future use must still go through applicable legal, zoning, planning, and public-review processes.
That distinction matters: a buyer, a proposed tenant, a public notice, and an approved project are not interchangeable. The confirmed school application concerns one building; it should not be read as a plan for the entire campus.
A PreK–8 school application concerns Regina Hall
South Euclid’s September 2026 public notice says the Planning Commission would consider a conditional-use permit for a PreK–8 educational facility for Yeshiva Derech Hatorah at the former Regina Hall. The notice explains that educational institutions in the R-75 single-family zoning district require conditional-use approval. It documents an application and hearing, not an approval or an opening date. Read the city notice.

A proposed rezoning is listed, but its terms are unclear
An October 2026 public-notice index includes an entry titled “Notice of Public Hearing Former Notre Dame College Campus Proposed Rezoning.” The indexed information available does not show what zoning changes were proposed, whether the hearing took place, or whether the city reached a decision. The title alone is not enough to determine what uses would be allowed. See the public-notice index.
What the campus includes
Keen-Summit Capital Partners LLC describes the offered property as approximately 48 acres, with 10 buildings, about 472,537 gross square feet, and roughly 800 surface parking spaces. Its listing identifies classrooms, laboratories, chapels, residence halls, student services, and athletic facilities. These are broker-published figures for the property offered at auction; the listing does not state a publication year. View the broker’s property listing.

Before the auction, local reporting described housing, education, and office space among the possibilities discussed in South Euclid. Former students and other advocates hoped higher education could be part of a revival. Those ideas were not confirmed as Akron Children’s Hospital plans. Read the local report.

Friends of Notre Dame College says its goal is to restore a multi-use academic institution in partnership with the community. That is the group’s stated vision, not an approved project or a commitment by the hospital. See the group’s vision.
Why the city’s earlier bid is not the sale price
Before the auction, South Euclid submitted a $7.9 million minimum qualifying bid and planned, if successful, to use short-term debt to buy the property before reselling all or parts to developers, according to Axios Cleveland. The city did not win; Akron Children’s Hospital did. The $7.9 million figure was the city’s qualifying bid, not the winning bid or the final sale price. Read the Axios Cleveland report.
What to watch for next
- The outcome of the Regina Hall conditional-use application and hearing.
- The full South Euclid rezoning notice and any hearing record or decision.
- A campus plan from Akron Children’s Hospital that identifies intended uses, buildings, funding, timing, and any preservation commitments.
Until those details are documented, the most accurate description is that the hospital won the campus auction, a school use has been proposed for Regina Hall, and the broader future of the site remains unsettled.
