Lexar’s Costco-exclusive High-Performance Memory Storage bundle combines a 1TB portable NVMe SSD and a 64GB USB Type-C dual-interface flash drive, plus two cables. Lexar set a launch MSRP of $99.99 in June 2023; that is a historical price, not a confirmed current offer. The SSD’s advertised maximum is up to 2,000 MB/s for read and write, but Lexar cautions that actual performance varies and write speeds are lower than the stated read transfer speed.
What comes in the bundle?
Lexar announced the High-Performance Memory Storage bundle on June 22, 2023, as a Costco exclusive. Costco’s product listing describes the same components:
- 1TB portable NVMe SSD: Lexar rates it for up to 2,000 MB/s read and write transfer speeds.
- 64GB dual-interface flash drive: A USB Type-C and USB Type-A drive intended to move files between devices that use those connector types.
- Two cables: One USB-C-to-C cable and one USB-C-to-USB-A cable.
Lexar describes the SSD as having a premium aluminum enclosure with a sandblasted finish. That is a manufacturer description, not evidence of tested drop resistance or long-term durability. Lexar’s June 22, 2023 announcement and Costco’s product detail listing identify the bundle’s contents.
How fast are the drives?
1TB portable SSD
Lexar advertises up to 2,000 MB/s read and write for the SSD, and Costco repeats those figures. They are vendor-rated maximums, not a promise of sustained transfer rates: Lexar says actual performance may vary and that write speeds are lower than the stated read transfer speed. The launch material reports internal testing, not independent benchmark results.
#1 Best Overall
- Note: Magsafe is not available in this version
- High-speed Data Transfer: Lexar external SSD ES3 supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write to transfer files fast for more efficient work. (Performance may be lower if not supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2 on Mac and other systems)
- Wide Compatibility: Lexar Portable SSD ES3 compatibility with iPhone 17 series (Not supported on iPhone 14 and older models), Android mobile devices, laptops, cameras, Xbox X|S, PS4, PS5, gaming console, and more
- On The Go: Lexar external solid state drive ES3's thin, stylish, and durable design, weighs 42g and is only 10.5mm thick, making it smaller than a card and easily fits in your pocket. It comes with a Type-C cable for plug-and-play convenience
- Data Safety First: Lexar SSD ES3 includes Lexar DataShieldTM 256-bit AES encryption software to protect files
64GB dual drive
Lexar rates the flash drive for up to 130 MB/s read. Its write speed is lower, and the release does not state a write-speed figure. The drive’s Type-A and Type-C connectors are meant to make transfers between those connector types convenient; they do not establish how quickly a particular phone or computer will transfer files.
For either device, the listed peak rate alone cannot tell you how long a real transfer will take. The source material does not provide independent testing or a sustained-speed result for this bundle. Lexar’s launch release includes the performance caveats; Costco’s listing also shows the SSD’s advertised read and write figures.
Rank #2
- Up to 2000MB/s read and 2000MB/s write to transfer files fast for a smooth workflow (Performance on Mac and other systems not supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 may be lower)
- The drive's MagSafe-compatible design makes it easy to attach to your compatible smartphone. An additional metal ring accessory gives any device a magnetic surface to attach to
- Supports recording in Apple ProRes at 4K120FPS, and Samsung Pro Video 8K 30FPS
- Includes free access to the Lexar App to easily auto back up your media and expand the storage of your mobile device
- Rated IP65 for dust and water resistance, and is drop resistant up to 3M
Will it work with your devices?
Lexar names Android, PC, and Mac compatibility. It describes the 64GB drive as a USB Type-C and Type-A device for transfers between those connector types. The announcement does not specify system-version requirements, file-system limitations, or compatibility testing for individual phones and computers. Check your device’s available ports and requirements before relying on a particular setup.
What does DataShield do—and what does it not guarantee?
Lexar says both drives include DataShield, described as software using 256-bit AES encryption to protect files. The company also cautions that security safeguards can be circumvented and does not guarantee complete protection against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Treat encryption as a security feature, not a guarantee against data loss, access, or compromise. Lexar’s announcement contains both the feature description and its limitation.

What does it cost, and is it available?
Lexar announced a $99.99 MSRP at launch in 2023. That historical MSRP does not establish the bundle’s current price. A Costco Same-Day listing accessed September 28, 2026, displayed $56.72 and an out-of-stock status; it is a dated retail snapshot, not proof that the bundle is unavailable from all Costco channels or locations. Check Costco for current local availability and pricing before making a purchase. Lexar’s release gives the launch MSRP, while Costco Same-Day’s listing shows the snapshot.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the bundle a good value?
The bundle puts two different kinds of storage in one purchase: a higher-capacity portable SSD and a smaller dual-connector flash drive, with cables for common USB-C connections. Whether that is worthwhile depends on whether you need both formats, whether the connectors suit your devices, and the actual price available to you. The published information does not provide a current price comparison against buying separate drives or independent performance tests, so it cannot establish that the bundle is a better value than alternatives.
