The reported $100 million crypto loss linked to Pakistani politician Ishaq Dar’s son, Ali Dar, remains an allegation—not a documented personal loss. TechJuice and Daily Pakistan tied the story to analyst Usman Shami’s remarks about two projects, Quint and PLANET, but the reports do not provide records establishing the amount, who controlled the projects, or which investors lost money.
Who reportedly lost $100 million in crypto?
The figure comes from headlines and secondary reports, not from a disclosed calculation or primary financial records. The available reporting does not establish whether $100 million refers to investor losses, a project or fund’s decline, or a personal loss by Ali Dar. It should not be read as proof that Ali Dar personally lost or took that amount.
TechJuice attributes its account to Usman Shami, described as a senior analyst, speaking on Dunya News’s Think Tank. Daily Pakistan published a related summary on July 27, 2025. Neither article, as available, supplies records substantiating the amount or identifying the people or entities that bore losses. TechJuice’s report and Daily Pakistan’s summary are the published accounts, not independent confirmation.
What were Quint and PLANET?
The reports associate the names Quint and PLANET with the alleged loss, but do not provide enough primary information to establish their precise structure or compare their performance. They do not identify token contracts, issuers, launch records, financial disclosures, or a documented market history.

Quint
Daily Pakistan says Shami described Quint as launching around two to three years before his reported remarks and said it received investment from Dubai. TechJuice says Quint came before PLANET and declined. These are descriptions attributed to Shami in secondary reporting; the articles do not supply records that establish a launch date, investment amount, or project history.
PLANET
TechJuice reports that PLANET also failed to gain traction and was “dumped,” and says Lionel Messi promoted it. The available reporting does not include campaign records or primary project information to verify the promotion or the project’s performance. The word “dumped” is the report’s characterization, not evidence here of a particular transaction or wrongdoing.

Was Ali Dar behind the projects?
TechJuice says Shami described Ali Dar, identified as Ishaq Dar’s son, as reportedly behind Quint and PLANET. The article does not provide corporate filings, project disclosures, or other primary records showing Ali Dar’s ownership or control. That reported association therefore should not be presented as an established fact or proof of personal responsibility for investor losses.
Daily Pakistan attributes to Shami the claim that Ishaq Dar was not involved. TechJuice also attributes to Shami the statement that the ventures were based in Dubai and that no funds were transferred from Pakistan. The reports provide no independent documentation for those claims.

Where did the investment come from?
Daily Pakistan’s summary says Shami described major investors as UAE business figures and companies, with investment connected to Dubai. The available accounts therefore do not establish the source or destination of specific funds.
Did investors take legal action?
Daily Pakistan says Shami reported that investors took legal action. It does not identify a court, case number, filing, parties, or outcome. On the information in the article, it is not possible to confirm a particular lawsuit or say what legal claims, if any, were made.

What remains unverified
- The calculation and meaning of the reported $100 million figure.
- Who owned or controlled Quint and PLANET, and how the projects were structured.
- The identities of investors, their investment amounts, and any verified losses.
- The reported legal action and its status.
- The reported links to Dubai, the claim that no funds came from Pakistan, and the reported Messi promotion.
The articles available for this account do not include responses from Ali Dar, Ishaq Dar, project representatives, or identifiable investors. That absence in these reports does not establish that the people named did not respond elsewhere, nor does it prove wrongdoing.

A headline can compress several different claims into one number. A project’s decline, a group of investors’ losses, a fund’s performance, and one person’s personal loss are not interchangeable. Without records showing how the figure was calculated and who held the investments, the most accurate description is a reported allegation associated with Quint and PLANET—not a proven personal loss or finding of fraud.

Shami was also quoted by TechJuice as saying, “In fact, for the first time, Pakistan has outpaced India in certain areas of tech, particularly in crypto development,” according to the article. That is his assertion; the report does not provide a comparative dataset establishing it.
