More than 5,600 acres of Minnesota farmland were scheduled for auction across 14 counties in March 2025, according to a March 3 preview by Successful Farming. Those dates have passed: the figure describes planned offerings, not acreage confirmed sold. The preview does not report final prices, buyers, or which tracts sold.
What the March 2025 preview covered
Successful Farming reported that its team had compiled more than 5,600 acres scheduled for auction statewide during March, with offerings ranging from individual 40-acre tracts to a sale exceeding 1,800 acres. The article also anticipated at least 18 additional farmland auctions in Minnesota that month. These are counts and acreage from a pre-auction snapshot, not a record of completed transactions.
The preview gave detailed information on selected properties, including three Clay County offerings and a Mower County farm. It did not provide a complete county-by-county inventory of the statewide total.

How the largest scheduled sale was structured
The Grover Farms offering was the largest detailed sale in the preview: 12 Clay County tracts totaling 1,869.2 acres. Pifer described a “high bidder choice” process and said bidders could lump tracts together at their discretion. The article does not explain the precise bidding sequence or rules, so prospective bidders would have needed to consult the auction terms rather than infer them from the label alone.
Successful Farming described the predominant soils as Wheatville Silt Loam, Glyndon Loam, and Augsburg Silt Loam. Pifer said the loams supported crops including sugar beets, wheat, barley, sunflowers, and canola. The reported corn and soybean yields are averages stated in the preview, not a guarantee of future production or a substitute for parcel-level records.

What the Mower County property included
The Reinartz Farm listing combined cropland with a building site and several structures. Successful Farming described the farmhouse, built in 1917, as having four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 3,784 square feet, plus an attached two-car garage. Other listed structures were a grain bin, granary, hog house, milk house, machine shed, loafing shed, storage shed, and silo.
The preview reported drainage tile on three tracts, with installation dates in the 1970s and 2012, and a shared tile maintenance agreement on one parcel. It also said the CRP contract covering 11.5 acres across two tracts was to transfer after closing within 60 days. Those details could affect a buyer’s operating plans and obligations, but the article does not provide the underlying agreements or their full conditions.

What this preview can—and cannot—tell a buyer now
