The Messiverse was a four-piece digital art NFT collection associated with Lionel Messi, announced by Ethernity on August 4, 2021. Ethernity advertised its release for August 20, 2021, through its website. The original lineup was artwork—not physical Messi memorabilia—and should be distinguished from digital collectibles released later.
What was The Messiverse?
Ethernity described The Messiverse as a licensed and authenticated NFT art collection inspired by Messi and his career. Its August 4, 2021 announcement set an advertised release time of 5:00 p.m. EDT on August 20, 2021, at ethernity.io. Contemporary coverage also reported Messi’s announcement of his first official NFT collection through Ethernity. Tech Times reported that Messi described the connection between soccer and art this way: “Soccer is like art. It’s timeless.”
The launch materials presented the NFTs as digital artwork. They do not describe a physical product included with the collection.
What artworks were in the original collection?
The August 2021 announcement listed four works. Three were credited to digital artist Bosslogic; the fourth, whose title was not yet disclosed, was credited to Impossible Brief.

How is The Messiverse different from later Messi NFTs?
Later Messi-related digital collectibles should not be folded into the original 2021 lineup. In November 2022, Ethernal Labs announced a separate Messi experience. A third-party tracker lists another later item, “Lionel Messi: Man of the Past,” with a November 25, 2022 launch date on Ethereum. That listing concerns a later NFT, not one of the four works in the original Messiverse announcement. The tracker identifies it as a separate item.

Ethernal Labs said in its November 2022 announcement that The Messiverse had “raised more than US$3 million” and “continues to be Ethernity’s most popular collection.” Those are the company’s retrospective claims; they are not independently audited performance figures. The announcement was distributed by Business Wire.

Current official availability and resale activity for the original four works are not established by the cited material. The available tracker concerns the later “Man of the Past” item and cautions that some data may not be updated when a collection is untracked. It therefore cannot confirm whether an original Messiverse NFT is currently listed, what it might sell for, or whether an official marketplace page remains active.
