Costco Next was a shopping channel that let current Costco members buy directly from selected suppliers through their online storefronts. Costco now says access to those storefronts is no longer available, so you cannot use Costco Next to shop today. Historically, whether an offer was worth it depended on the specific product price, the supplier’s service and return terms, and—if you were an Executive member—the rewards you gave up.
What was Costco Next?
Costco Next connected current Costco members with selected suppliers’ online stores. Costco described the arrangement as a way to access more variety from those suppliers at an exclusive Costco price. Historical categories included art, beauty products, clothing, home goods, electronics and accessories, lighting, luggage, pet products, sporting goods, and home improvement. These categories describe the former program, not current offers. Costco Connection’s August 2023 overview provides that historical description.
The program was a discovery and access channel, not a Costco-fulfilled transaction. Costco’s explanation said that after a member transferred to a supplier’s site, the member purchased directly from that supplier. The supplier shipped the order and handled customer service and returns. Costco’s explainer, published August 28, 2023, describes how the arrangement worked.
Can you shop Costco Next now?
No. Costco Customer Service’s Costco Next Member Services page, version 19.0, published September 15, 2026, says: “Access to Costco Next store fronts is no longer available.” Costco’s navigation page still has a general Costco Next label and description, but that does not establish that the storefronts are accessible; the member-services notice is the explicit availability statement. Costco’s navigation page is not evidence that the program remains open.
#1 Best Overall
Costco’s notice does not explain why storefront access ended or confirm a replacement program. Its support page directs customers with eligible return or warranty questions to the vendors listed there; it does not say that this resource restores Costco Next shopping. A September 2, 2026 USA Today report republished by Yahoo Finance also described the closure and reported that no public explanation had been given at publication.

For a past offer, the useful comparison was the total value of the specific supplier deal—not the Costco label by itself. The available descriptions establish an exclusive-price proposition, but they do not demonstrate that every Costco Next item was cheaper than every alternative. Compare the same product, or a genuinely equivalent model, against other available prices and include shipping or other charges where applicable.

Compare the price with the supplier’s terms
Check the supplier’s return and warranty terms alongside its price. Under the former arrangement, the supplier—not Costco—shipped orders and handled customer service and returns. A lower sticker price might not be the better deal if the supplier’s return window, costs, or service terms were less favorable for your needs.
Account for Executive rewards
Costco stated that Costco Next purchases did not qualify for Costco Executive benefits and were excluded from the 2% reward calculation. That exclusion matters when comparing a former supplier offer with a qualified Costco purchase, especially if you would otherwise earn the Executive reward. The 2% figure describes the reward exclusion, not an estimate of savings from Costco Next.

Judge the exact offer, not the program name
- Compare the exact product or an equivalent model, rather than broad category prices.
- Read the supplier’s shipping, customer-service, return, and warranty terms.
- Include the lost Executive reward in the comparison if you are an Executive member.
- Remember that storefront access is no longer available; these checks apply to past offers or other direct-vendor alternatives, not current Costco Next shopping.
