U.S. markets face a packed week beginning Monday, October 12, 2026: major banks are due to report third-quarter results, September consumer-price and retail-sales data are scheduled, and the Federal Reserve is set to publish its Beige Book. These are calendar events, not a reliable forecast of whether stocks or bonds will rise or fall. The dates and times below were reported by Sarina Trangle in an AOL article reproducing Investopedia reporting on October 11, 2026; check issuing agencies, company investor-relations pages and exchange calendars for confirmation.

It says the Bureau of Labor Statistics will update producer-price data (PPI) during the week without specifying a release time.

Why bank earnings are in focus
JPMorgan Chase is the first major bank on the calendar in this report, with several large peers also due to report. Investors will be watching reported results and executive commentary for clues about lending, trading, dealmaking and the health of customers and businesses. The preview says bank executives had generally described consumers and companies as resilient over the summer, while trading volume was up and mergers and acquisitions were brisk. Those are the article’s characterizations, not a guarantee that every bank will report the same conditions.
Interest rates cut both ways
Higher rates can support net interest income (NII), the difference between what a bank earns on assets such as loans and what it pays on deposits. But expensive borrowing can discourage households and businesses from taking loans. The article identifies this tension as one possible reason for recent weakness in bank shares; it does not establish a single cause. Jamie Dimon and David Solomon are among the executives whose commentary may draw attention, though the preview supplies no direct quotations from them.

Inflation, spending and the Fed’s view
September CPI
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release September CPI on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET, according to the October 11 calendar report. The prior figures in that report are 3.4% year-over-year inflation for August, with the same rate reported for July. These are figures as reported by the article, not independently verified here against the BLS release.
Retail sales
The Census Bureau is scheduled to publish September retail-sales data Thursday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The week-ahead report says spending rose 1.2% from July to August. That figure is likewise attributed to the article and has not been independently checked against the Census Bureau release. The new report will provide a fresh reading on consumer spending, but the calendar alone says nothing about what it will show.

PPI and the Beige Book
The preview lists a BLS PPI update during the week but does not specify a day or time, so confirm the release calendar before planning around it. The Federal Reserve Beige Book is scheduled for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ET. It summarizes economic conditions reported across Federal Reserve districts and may add qualitative context alongside the inflation and spending releases.
Other company results on the calendar
- Health care: UnitedHealth Group is listed for a premarket report Tuesday and an 8:00 a.m. ET teleconference.
- Grocery: Albertsons is listed for fiscal second-quarter results before Tuesday’s open, followed by an 8:30 a.m. ET call.
- Restaurants: Domino’s Pizza is listed for third-quarter results at 6:05 a.m. ET Tuesday and a call at 8:30 a.m. ET.
- Semiconductors: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is scheduled to hold its third-quarter results call Thursday at 2:00 p.m. ET. ASML Holding is also listed as reporting, without a specific time.
- Transportation: J.B. Hunt Transport Services is listed for a report after Thursday’s close and a 5:00 p.m. ET call. The preview says the company recently cited elevated fuel costs as a possible 5%–10% earnings reduction; that is a potential impact as reported by the article, not a confirmed outcome for this quarter.
Recent market backdrop—and what it does not tell you
The October 11 report says major indexes rose Friday after technology shares rebounded from a sharp selloff, leaving the S&P 500 and Nasdaq near Tuesday records. It reports weekly gains of 1.2% for the S&P 500, 0.9% for the Nasdaq and 0.6% for the Dow Jones. It also says the 10-year Treasury yield reached levels Wednesday not seen since 2002. The report does not provide a standalone comparison date for every figure, and these descriptions have not been independently verified.
The same report says the S&P 500 Financial Sector had fallen about 4% over the past month, more than any other sector. That relative-period figure is the article’s description, not a separately confirmed market calculation. Recent performance provides context for the week, but it cannot establish how investors will react to incoming results or data.

- Confirm exchange hours for Monday, October 12, especially if you trade stocks or bonds; the preview says stocks are open while the bond market is closed for Columbus Day.
- Check each company’s investor-relations calendar for its exact results and call schedule. The listed times are those reported in the October 11 preview and may change.
- Check the BLS, Census Bureau and Federal Reserve calendars for release dates and times, including the PPI update whose day and time are not specified in the preview.
- Use the issuing agency’s or company’s own release for published figures and results rather than treating the preview’s August data or market recap as fresh primary-source confirmation.
