Start in Your Orders on Amazon.com: open the order, check its status, and use the support options shown for that specific item. For a delay, Amazon advises waiting 48 hours past the estimated delivery date before escalating. For a cancellation, check the refund status; for damage, look for Return or replace items. The available remedy depends on the order, item, seller, and current eligibility—not on Prime Day alone.
First, confirm where you placed the order
This guidance is for purchases made on Amazon.com. An order placed on a participating merchant’s own website using Buy with Prime follows a separate route, even if it appears in your Amazon account. Amazon says those orders appear in a separate Buy with Prime Orders tab, where you can open the order details to track, get support, or start a return. Follow the merchant- and order-specific help options there. Amazon’s Buy with Prime order help

For an Amazon.com purchase, open Your Orders and check whether Amazon or a third-party seller shipped and sold it. That distinction can change whom to contact about a delay.
If the order is delayed
- Open Your Orders, select the order, and check the estimated delivery date and tracking updates.
- Check your email and any carrier notifications for a delivery exception or revised date.
- Allow 48 hours past the estimated delivery date for an unexpected delay. Amazon says most late deliveries arrive within that interval, but this is guidance, not a delivery guarantee. Amazon’s Late Deliveries guidance
- If there is still no news after 48 hours, contact Amazon Customer Service for an order shipped by Amazon. If a third-party seller shipped and sold it, contact the seller through the order. Amazon’s help page puts it this way: “After 48 hours have passed, Customer Service will be able to help you.”
For a late delivery with a guaranteed delivery date, Amazon’s guidance describes a shipping-fee refund route: Problem with an order → Shipping or delivery issues → Shipment is late. This does not mean every Prime order has a guaranteed date or a shipping fee eligible for refund; check the specific order and options shown.

- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.

If Amazon canceled the order
- Open the order details in Your Orders and check the cancellation reason and payment or refund status.
- If the reason or refund status is unclear, contact Customer Service from the order. Amazon’s customer-service page includes help with order and refund status. Amazon Customer Service
- If you still want the item, check its current listing before ordering again. Amazon’s official information does not promise that it will honor the canceled order’s Prime Day price or adjust the price on a new purchase; ask Customer Service whether an order-specific option is available.
An undeliverable package is a particular cancellation-related case: Amazon says it returns the package and processes a refund, which it expects within seven business days after receiving the return. The page identifies shipment damage before or during transit as one possible reason a package is undeliverable. That seven-business-day expectation applies to this stated situation, not to every cancellation. Amazon’s Undeliverable Packages guidance
If the item arrived damaged
- In Your Orders, find the affected item and choose Return or replace items, if that option is offered.
- Select the damage-related reason and follow the prompts. Amazon may ask you to upload photos; if it does, make the damage clear in the images.
- Check whether a replacement is in stock and read the order-specific instructions. Amazon says a replacement uses the same shipping speed as the original, but it may not ship until the original is returned; the displayed delivery date can vary with stock.
- If the order does not offer a replacement, Amazon’s guidance says to return the item and place a new order. Check the new listing and price before doing so.
Keep the item and its packaging until you understand the order’s return or replacement instructions. Amazon says most items may be eligible for a refund or replacement/exchange within 30 days of delivery if in original or unused condition, but eligibility varies by item. Check the product page and the options available in Order History; the route shown for your damaged item is the relevant one for that case. Amazon Return Policy

What to expect from a refund or third-party seller claim
Refund timing
The refund amount and method can vary with the item’s condition, how long you held it, and purchase details. After Amazon receives and processes a return, a refund can take up to 30 days depending on the order type, return shipping speed, processing, and payment method. “Up to 30 days” is the help page’s stated maximum under those factors, not a prediction that every refund will take that long. Check the refund status from the order. Amazon Refunds
Third-party seller orders
If the seller is not Amazon, use the order’s seller-contact option first. For a qualifying third-party purchase, Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee lists an item that is damaged, defective, or materially different from its description as a potentially covered issue. Coverage has eligibility requirements and request and return conditions; it does not apply to every Amazon.com transaction. Check the seller shown on your order and the official criteria before relying on it. Amazon A-to-z Guarantee
