What to Check Before Investing in an XRP ETF

Before buying XRP ETF shares, verify the fund’s exposure, full costs, NAV method, custody arrangements, trading risks and prospectus disclosures.

Before investing in an XRP ETF, confirm what the fund holds or uses to gain exposure, how its objective is measured, and what its latest prospectus says about costs, valuation, custody, trading and risk. A fund that holds XRP and one targeting twice XRP’s daily move are materially different products; the name alone does not tell you which you are considering.

Start by identifying the fund’s actual exposure

Read the latest prospectus for the exact fund and ticker you plan to trade. Look for the investment objective and strategy, not just “XRP” in the product name. The Bitwise XRP ETF prospectus dated September 28, 2026 describes exposure to XRP held by the Trust, less expenses and liabilities. By contrast, the Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF summary prospectus dated April 30, 2026 says its objective is two times XRP’s price performance for a single day.

That daily target is not a promise of twice XRP’s performance over a longer holding period. The Teucrium filing says the fund is intended for investors who actively monitor it as frequently as daily, and warns that an investor could lose the full principal within one day. For any product that uses futures, derivatives or other funds rather than holding XRP directly, inspect the prospectus for the instruments, counterparties and related risks.

What to compare Bitwise XRP ETF Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF
Stated exposure Exposure to XRP held by the Trust, less expenses and liabilities; Bitwise XRP ETF prospectus dated September 28, 2026. Two times XRP’s daily price performance for a single day; Teucrium summary prospectus dated April 30, 2026.
Measurement period Check the prospectus’s valuation and objective terms; the cited disclosure does not state a daily multiple. One day; the daily target is not a longer-period multiple.
Fee information established here 0.34% annual Sponsor Fee; see the cost section below for how it accrues and what it excludes. Not stated in the cited summary prospectus information; consult the current full prospectus for the complete cost schedule.
Custody and valuation Names Coinbase Custody Trust Company, LLC as XRP custodian and describes segregated accounts; review the fund’s benchmark and pricing method in its prospectus. Inspect the current prospectus for the instruments, counterparties and valuation methods used by the fund.
Additional structure-specific risk Market, custody, valuation, regulatory, tax and operational risks are among the categories described in issuer filings. Daily leverage, monitoring and the possibility of a total loss within one day are described in the Teucrium summary prospectus.

Calculate the costs you could actually pay

Do not treat a stated sponsor or management fee as the all-in cost. Check the prospectus for the recurring fund fee, brokerage commissions and any extraordinary or other expenses, then check your broker’s charges and account terms for the specific ticker.

Bitwise’s September 28, 2026 prospectus states a 0.34% annual Sponsor Fee on the Trust’s XRP holdings. The fee accrues daily, is payable monthly in arrears in XRP, and reduces NAV as it accrues. Brokerage commissions and certain extraordinary expenses may also apply, so 0.34% is not a complete estimate of every investor’s cost.

Check how NAV is calculated and XRP is held

Find the benchmark and valuation method the fund uses to calculate net asset value (NAV), then note when and how that calculation is made. A benchmark price, the fund’s NAV and the price at which you can trade shares are not necessarily the same. Read what the filing says about pricing disruptions, valuation uncertainty and failures by service providers.

For a fund holding XRP, identify the named custodian and read how the assets are held. Bitwise names Coinbase Custody Trust Company, LLC as its XRP custodian and describes segregated accounts. Those arrangements are relevant due-diligence facts, not a guarantee against loss, disruption or a provider failure. If the fund uses other instruments, its own prospectus should explain the resulting custody and operational dependencies.

Assess trading liquidity and the gap between share price and NAV

ETF shares trade in the secondary market, where the market price can be above or below NAV. Review the prospectus’s discussion of premiums and discounts, liquidity, creation and redemption mechanics, market hours and possible trading halts. In stressed conditions or when liquidity is limited, the price you can obtain may diverge from NAV, and exiting may be more difficult or costly.

Confirm that your brokerage offers the selected ticker and check its commissions and account terms. A listing or the ability to place an order does not tell you whether the shares will trade near NAV or remain readily tradable in every market condition.

Read the XRP, regulatory, tax and operational risk disclosures

A fund wrapper does not remove the risks of the asset or strategy it tracks. Issuer prospectuses describe XRP as volatile and disclose risks that can affect the fund’s value or its ability to operate. Read the exact fund’s risk section for details rather than assuming one issuer’s disclosures apply word for word to another.

  • XRP market risk: The value of an XRP-oriented fund is linked to XRP exposure, so changes in price and market demand can affect its value.
  • Tracking and valuation risk: Benchmark prices, NAV and realizable trading prices can differ; understand the fund’s specific pricing method.
  • Trading and liquidity risk: Premiums or discounts, limited liquidity, creation or redemption problems and halts may affect execution or an investor’s exit.
  • Custody, cyber and operations risk: Custodian safeguards and service-provider arrangements do not make loss, disruption or operational failure impossible.
  • Regulatory and tax risk: The 21Shares XRP ETF prospectus filed in 2025 identifies regulatory and tax risks, including uncertainty in the treatment discussed in that filing. These are issuer disclosures as of that document, not a current legal opinion; consult the selected fund’s latest filing and a qualified tax or legal professional about your circumstances.

Understand what SEC filings and protections do—and do not—mean

Bitwise’s September 28, 2026 prospectus says the Trust is not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, and that its shares are not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or another government agency. The same prospectus warns that the SEC has neither approved nor disapproved the securities. A filing or exchange listing should not be read as SEC endorsement or as a guarantee of investment safety.

The Bitwise prospectus states: “AN INVESTMENT IN THE TRUST MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR INVESTORS THAT ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO ACCEPT MORE RISK THAN MAY BE INVOLVED WITH OTHER EXCHANGE-TRADED PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT HOLD XRP OR INTERESTS RELATED TO XRP.” This is the issuer’s warning in that prospectus, not an individualized assessment of whether the fund is suitable for you.

Use a final prospectus check before placing an order

  1. Identify the exact fund, ticker and exchange, and open its latest prospectus or summary prospectus filed with the SEC.
  2. Write down whether it holds XRP, gains exposure another way, or targets a daily leveraged return; note the period its stated objective covers.
  3. Compare the current fee and other disclosed expenses with the commissions and account charges that may apply through your broker.
  4. Locate the benchmark, NAV valuation method, custodian and relevant creation, redemption, liquidity and trading-halt disclosures.
  5. Read the risk factors for the fund’s specific structure, including XRP, regulatory, tax, custody, cyber and operational risks where disclosed.
  6. Decide whether the stated exposure and monitoring demands fit your own objectives, finances and risk tolerance. The prospectus provides disclosures, not personalized investment advice.

Fund terms can change. The figures and named disclosures above come from prospectuses dated September 28, 2026, April 30, 2026 and, for 21Shares risk categories, a 2025 filing; verify the selected fund’s latest SEC filing before investing.
