All 72 EFL clubs can bid through their Club Community Organisations for support for community projects in England and Wales.
What is the EFL and Sky Bet £6m fund?
The Building Foundations Fund is part of the EFL’s title-sponsorship partnership with Sky Bet. The EFL says the fund launched in the 2023/24 season alongside an extension of that partnership. Its stated commitment is £6 million over six years; Flutter Entertainment, Sky Bet’s parent company, described the funding as £1 million per season and £6 million in total.
This is a multi-year commitment for club-linked community work, not money distributed to clubs in equal shares or all at once. The EFL says all 72 clubs can bid through their Club Community Organisations (CCOs). The fund’s stated purpose is to support existing programmes or develop new initiatives in England and Wales. What can grants support?
The fund covers grassroots and community football as well as broader local projects. Examples reported by the EFL include a small-sided 3G pitch at Accrington Stanley’s Sports Hub and initiatives focused on health, wellbeing, inclusion, participation and local facilities.

How much has been awarded?
For the first year, 2023/24, the EFL reported that more than £800,000 had been awarded to over 60 club charities. The league also reported more than 100 new weekly sessions and over 7,500 additional participants in connection with that first-year funding. These are EFL-reported figures and attribution, not results presented here as an independent evaluation.
