It also described BlockDAG’s Telegram game, TG Tap Miner, repeated a Hamster Kombat post about Cristiano Ronaldo, and made an NFT-drop claim without identifying the collections or measuring their declines.
What the headline’s 1680% figure does—and does not—show
CaptainAltcoin’s August 28, 2024 article was labeled “Sponsored,” and its closing disclaimer said it was not written by the CaptainAltcoin team. The article asserted that BDAG holdings had increased by 1680%, but it did not give a starting price, ending price, dates for the comparison, an exchange listing, a calculation, or an independent price series.
That omission matters: a percentage increase is meaningful only when readers can see what was measured and over what period. BlockDAG’s own August 2024 communications discussed presale price increases and fundraising. Those are project-reported presale claims; they do not establish a realized return on a token traded in a market. The sponsored article’s “over $67.7 million raised” and “more than 120,000 users” figures are also its own statements, with no underlying audit material provided on the page. BlockDAG’s August 23 recap separately reported $67.6 million in presale fundraising. Neither fundraising figure substantiates the 1680% claim.
For a personal-finance reader, the practical distinction is between promotional claims about a presale and evidence of an investment return. The headline does not provide enough information to calculate or independently verify such a return.

What BlockDAG’s TG Tap Miner was described as
The sponsored article described TG Tap Miner as a game played through Telegram: players pop falling balls in short sessions to earn Tap Points, which the article said could be converted into BDAG. It also described referral rewards.
BlockDAG’s August 23, 2024 recap likewise called TG Tap Miner a Telegram-based play-to-earn game and described earning Tap Points by popping balls or inviting friends. The project published a TG Tap Miner guide dated August 22, 2024. These sources establish how the game was presented around its launch, but they are not independent verification of the reward economics.
In particular, the descriptions do not establish a conversion rate, the value of any points or tokens, whether a particular player received tokens, or whether playing generated a financial return. A game’s advertised reward mechanism is not evidence of a dependable income stream.
What the Ronaldo and Hamster Kombat claim supports
The article said Cristiano Ronaldo broke Hamster Kombat’s record for the fastest YouTube channel to reach 10 million subscribers. Hamster Kombat’s own Telegram announcement acknowledged the milestone, saying: “It took none other than the almighty Cristiano Ronaldo to break our YouTube Record! His YT channel reached 10 million users in a matter of hours!”

This is an interested party’s account: the game’s channel said Ronaldo broke its record and described the milestone as occurring “in a matter of hours.” It supports that Hamster Kombat publicly acknowledged the event. The available material does not independently establish the precise timing or verify the broader record category implied by “fastest.”

The article referred generally to “high-profile NFTs” losing value, and also mentioned Notcoin NFTs and Lost Dogs. It did not identify the collections alleged to have fallen, name a marketplace, give a valuation date, or report a percentage or absolute decline. It therefore does not establish that Notcoin NFTs specifically fell in value, nor does it support a quantified claim about NFT prices.

A meaningful comparison of NFT prices would need to specify the collection, marketplace, currency, and matched observation dates. Without those details, “NFTs drop” is too vague to assess as a market claim.

How to read the article as a financial claim
- Check who is speaking. The CaptainAltcoin page was sponsored, and BlockDAG’s launch-era descriptions came from the project itself.
- Separate activity from returns. Playing a game, earning points, presale fundraising, and receiving a token are different events; none alone proves a profit.
- Ask what the percentage compares. A return claim needs a defined starting point, ending point, time period, and supporting price data.
- Require specifics for market-wide statements. An NFT decline needs named collections, a marketplace, and comparable dates and prices.
