The available sources do not explain when or why the descriptions diverged, so they should be treated as dated snapshots—not proof of a confirmed pivot or shutdown.
What SoundGTM offered when it launched
GeekWire reported on September 24, 2024, that SoundGTM had become publicly available as a referral marketplace for B2B companies. Founded the previous year and led by tech veterans Jenn Steele and Kevin Boehm, it aimed to connect companies seeking sales help with go-to-market professionals who could refer prospects or support sales activity. GeekWire’s 2024 report described a process in which a business posted an offer, SoundGTM matched it with a professional, and the two sides agreed on milestones. If a company could not find a match, SoundGTM said it would recruit salespeople.
Milestones set the definition of success
The launch-era model let a company decide what result it wanted to reward. A milestone could be an attended webinar, a qualified lead or a closed/won deal. “After the small platform fee, we operate on a pay-for-success model, and the companies define that success based on what they need,” Steele told GeekWire. “They can incentivize everything from a webinar attended to a lead becoming qualified to a closed/won deal.”
GeekWire reported that businesses paid an annual platform fee and that, when a milestone was met, the referral partner received 80% of the related fee, with SoundGTM keeping the remainder. That is the compensation structure reported at launch; it is not confirmation of the company’s current payment model.

What was reported about the startup’s early scale
In the same 2024 reporting, Steele said SoundGTM had raised $325,000, had a handful of beta customers and employed three full-time people. These are historical figures attributed to Steele, not current funding, customer or headcount data. The sources reviewed do not establish current revenue, customer totals, employee count, marketplace conversion rates or sales results.
What SoundGTM says its software does now
SoundGTM’s current website presents the company as partner-operations software. Its stated purpose is to help businesses register and track partner-sourced deals, see partner activity, calculate commissions and manage payout approvals. The site also describes prompts for drafting partner follow-ups. These are descriptions from the vendor, not independently verified performance claims. SoundGTM’s current product website says a company’s CRM remains its system of record and lists integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, Attio, Pipedrive and Zoho.
Tracking partner activity across different sources
The company says its software can capture deal-registration information from CRM records, meetings, email, referral links, LinkedIn comments, conferences and spreadsheets. That list points to a different operational emphasis from the 2024 account of matching businesses with sales partners: the current presentation focuses on collecting partner activity and making it visible alongside a company’s existing sales workflow.
Commission administration and follow-up
SoundGTM says the software can calculate commissions, route payouts for approval and help prepare follow-up messages to partners. For a business evaluating the product, the practical question is whether those workflows fit its existing CRM, partner rules and approval process. The site’s feature descriptions do not, by themselves, establish accuracy, time saved or improved sales outcomes.

How the two descriptions compare
The dates and sources matter: the marketplace account comes from an independent local-news report published in September 2024, while the software description comes from SoundGTM’s current company pages. The contrast is useful, but the sources do not establish that one product formally replaced the other.
| Aspect | Launch-era account (GeekWire, September 2024) | Current company description |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Match businesses with go-to-market professionals for referral-led sales activity. | Manage partner-program operations, deal tracking and related workflows. |
| How payments are described | Annual platform fee plus a milestone-based payment; GeekWire reported 80% of that payment went to the referral partner. | Subscription tiers; SoundGTM says plans have no commission fees. |
| Workflow emphasis | Finding a partner and agreeing on sales milestones. | Registering and attributing deals, viewing partner activity, calculating commissions, approving payouts and following up. |
| Evidence | Independent report based on the company’s launch-era account. | Vendor-owned product and pricing pages; they describe the offer but do not independently verify results. |
The available accounts do not say when or why SoundGTM’s positioning changed, whether its marketplace remains available, or whether earlier marketplace activity moved into the software product. The company’s About page identifies Steele as CEO and Boehm as CTO; those biographies are company-provided. SoundGTM’s About page lists their backgrounds in B2B software.

What a B2B team should verify before adopting it
For teams considering partner-operations software, SoundGTM’s current feature list raises practical evaluation questions rather than proving that the product will improve sales:
Quick Recap
- Confirm which CRM integrations and data flows are available for your account, and how partner-sourced deals are attributed when information comes from multiple channels.
- Check that commission rules, approval steps and payout records match your partner agreements and finance controls.
- Test whether partner follow-up prompts fit your team’s process, and verify what information the software uses before sending or approving messages.
- Ask the company about any requirements or limitations not specified on its public pricing page, including how the active-partner limits apply to your program.
- Measure the product against your own operational needs; the public descriptions do not provide independently verified customer counts or sales-performance results.
