NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said he was sad to see EVGA leave the graphics-card market, while expressing confidence that other suppliers would serve buyers. EVGA’s September 2022 announcement meant it would stop making new NVIDIA cards after selling its remaining current-generation stock; it did not establish what would happen to GPU prices, availability or competition over time.
What Jensen Huang said about EVGA’s departure
After NVIDIA’s GTC presentation in September 2022, Huang described EVGA and its founder Andrew Han as valued partners. In a GamesBeat interview, Huang said: “Andrew and EVGA are great partners and I’m sad to see them leave the market.” GamesBeat’s interview also reported Huang’s explanation that Han had wanted to wind down the business for a couple of years.

That was Huang’s account of EVGA’s decision, not a full independent resolution of the disagreements between the companies. In a contemporaneous account, Huang also said the market “will be served well after EVGA,” expressing NVIDIA’s expectation that other suppliers would meet demand. PC Gamer reported the remarks in September 2022.
What EVGA announced in September 2022
EVGA said it would end its partnership with NVIDIA for graphics cards, cancel plans for its next generation of NVIDIA cards and leave the GPU market. The company planned to sell and support its existing current-generation products while remaining stock lasted. Contemporary coverage said EVGA did not then plan to make graphics cards with AMD or Intel. TechPowerUp covered the announcement and stock plan.

The practical change for customers was specific: under the plan announced at the time, there would be no new EVGA-branded cards for NVIDIA’s next generation. The stock statement described a transition period, not an ongoing promise that new EVGA cards would remain available. It also did not by itself establish how long existing stock would last in any particular market.
Why the breakup drew attention
EVGA was a known NVIDIA board partner, so its exit raised questions about the balance between NVIDIA’s own Founders Edition cards and products sold by partners. A former EVGA product manager later recalled friction involving Founders Edition competition and reported pricing expectations. That account is retrospective personal testimony, not proof that either issue was the sole cause of the split or a settled company-wide finding. Tom’s Hardware published the former employee’s recollection on September 30, 2026.

Those reported tensions can add context to the breakup, but they should be kept distinct from EVGA’s announcement and Huang’s public explanation. Neither the remarks nor the recollection alone settle every factor behind the decision.

For buyers, the clear implication was the loss of EVGA as a source of new NVIDIA graphics cards under the announced plan. Huang’s confidence that the market would be served was a 2022 expectation, not a guarantee that other cards would match EVGA products in price, cooling, noise, warranty or availability.

The available sources do not quantify the exit’s effect on retail prices, supply, market share or long-term competition. They therefore cannot support a claim that the departure had no effect—or a claim that it caused a particular price or availability change. For a current purchase, compare the specific cards available in your region by total price, performance, power use, cooling and noise, warranty terms, and stock; the 2022 breakup alone does not identify a best-value choice.
NVIDIA’s fiscal 2022 filing describes the company’s GeForce and gaming business, but it does not establish the consequences of EVGA’s later exit. NVIDIA’s fiscal 2022 Form 10-K provides company context, not evidence of post-split buyer outcomes.
