Kim Kardashian said she bought the 18-carat engagement ring associated with her marriage to Kris Humphries, while he contributed one fifth of its cost. She also said she gave up the ring in order to divorce him. Those details are her retrospective account on a March 13, 2025 episode of The Kardashians, as reported by entertainment outlets—not independently verified financial or legal records.

What Kardashian said about the ring

In a conversation about jewelry from her three marriages, Kardashian said she did not keep the ring. Us Weekly quoted her: “I didn’t keep it. I was pregnant with North, still married to him and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring. The ring that I bought. He contributed a fifth [of the cost].” Us Weekly reported the remarks on March 13, 2025.

Just Jared also described the ring as an 18-carat emerald-cut diamond and reported Kardashian’s account that she surrendered it in connection with the divorce. Its March 13, 2025 report is consistent with the central details, but the claim about who paid what remains Kardashian’s account.

What is known about the ring’s cost?

The reports do not give a verified purchase price or establish the ring’s current market value. Kardashian’s statement that Humphries contributed one fifth does not reveal the total cost, so it cannot be used to calculate a dollar amount. The reports also do not independently confirm the payment arrangement.

How the ring relates to the marriage and divorce

Kardashian and Humphries married in 2011. Us Weekly reports that they separated after 72 days and finalized their divorce in April 2013; Just Jared also places the marriage in 2011 and the divorce in 2013. Kardashian said she was pregnant with North and still married to Humphries when she gave up the ring. Her description of the ring as something she had to surrender in order to divorce him should be understood as her account, not as a verified condition of the divorce settlement.
