He did not disclose his exact purse. UFC CEO Dana White responded that Gaethje had been offered more money and had not replied, but the reported coverage does not specify the offer’s amount or terms.
What Gaethje said about his pay
During UFC 324 fight-week media availability, Gaethje said, “I’m not getting $1 more,” according to MMA Fighting. The remark concerned whether fighters would receive increased compensation under the UFC’s new Paramount broadcast arrangement. It was a statement that his pay had not increased—not a disclosure of his purse for the Pimblett bout.
How Dana White responded
White gave a different account of a separate offer. As reported by MMA Fighting and The Independent, he said: “Gaethje was offered more money, and Gaethje never responded.” The reports do not establish the amount, terms, or status of the offer. Gaethje’s public comment and White’s response therefore do not provide a complete accounting of what Gaethje was contractually due or ultimately paid.
What the comments were about
The dispute was discussed in the context of the UFC’s broadcast move to Paramount+. Paramount’s January 7, 2026 announcement said the arrangement would end UFC pay-per-view in the United States and Latin America. The Paramount+ service is relevant here as the new broadcast context, not as evidence of a change in any individual fighter’s compensation.

MMA Fighting and MMA Junkie/Yahoo described the broadcast deal as valued at $7.7 billion. That is the reported value of the deal, not Gaethje’s earnings or a stated amount allocated to fighters.
Which fight was Gaethje discussing?
Gaethje was preparing to face Pimblett for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324. UFC’s January 20, 2026 preview identified the matchup and title stakes. The comments were reported as fight-week media remarks; the available accounts do not establish a separate extended “rant.”

Why bonus figures do not reveal his purse
MMA Junkie reported that Gaethje had earned 14 UFC Fight Night bonuses and that the reported bonus amount in January 2026 was $50,000 per bonus. Those figures describe bonuses, not his purse for the Pimblett fight or his total compensation. They cannot establish what he was paid under his contract or whether he accepted White’s reported offer.
