He also predicted Blue Origin would become the best business he had been involved in from a financial-returns perspective, and agreed when interviewer Andrew Ross Sorkin asked whether it would be “bigger than Amazon.” That was a forecast, not a result or a quantified target.
Why Bezos said he was optimistic about Trump
Bezos made the remarks while Trump was president-elect and preparing to return to office. The Associated Press reported Bezos saying, “I’m actually very optimistic this time around,” and explaining: “He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help him do that, I’m going to help him.” The AP’s account of the interview presents this as Bezos’s view of Trump’s anticipated regulatory agenda, not an announcement of a specific policy role or commitment.
What Bezos meant by Blue Origin being “bigger than Amazon”
Asked about Blue Origin’s financial prospects, Bezos said, “From a business point of view, from a financial returns point of view, I think it’s going to be the best business that I’ve ever been involved in.” Sorkin followed up, “Bigger than Amazon?” Bezos replied, “Yeah,” according to GeekWire’s coverage of the DealBook interview.
The exchange is notable because Bezos was comparing an established company with a future prospect. He did not give a timetable, numerical forecast, or precise definition of “bigger.” His preceding reference to financial returns suggests that he was discussing business returns, but the brief follow-up does not establish whether he meant profits, revenue, valuation, or overall scale. It should not be read as evidence that Blue Origin had already surpassed Amazon on any of those measures.

What else Bezos said about Trump, Musk, and the press
The interview ranged across Amazon, Blue Origin, Trump, and Bezos’s ownership of The Washington Post. Bezos said he trusted Elon Musk’s stated position that Musk would not use political power to benefit his own companies or disadvantage competitors. That is Bezos’s expressed trust, not independent proof of how Musk would act. The Information reported Bezos’s comments about Musk.
Bezos also said he would try to persuade Trump that the press is not the enemy, against a backdrop of Trump’s earlier attacks on Bezos and his companies. The AP reported Bezos saying: “You’ve probably grown in the last eight years. He has, too. This is not the case. The press is not the enemy.” The AP account describes this as part of the same conversation about the president-elect and Bezos’s newspaper ownership.
Quick Recap

- RECOVERY WADDING FOR ROCKET MODEL KIT: Estes rocket model kits require Recovery Wadding for a safe trip back to earth after every launch. This pack of 75 flame-resistant 2274 Recovery Wadding sheets provides enough material for about 18–25 flights, depending on how many sheets your model-rocket type requires.
- MOTOR & PARACHUTE PROTECTION: 2274 Recovery Wadding aids in heat protection during ejection in most Estes rockets. It helps prevent the rocket parachute from absorbing the heat from the motor’s ejection charge and getting melted or singed. This wadding is intended for use by ages 10+ with adult supervision for ages 12 and under.
- LAUNCH NECESSITY: Rocket-building kit accessories make educational Christmas gifts or stocking-stuffer surprises! Whether you’re working with a beginner model-rocket-building kit or an advanced-level replica, this wadding belongs in every rocket recovery kit. Place a few or several sheets (based on the level of rocket motor you're using) between the motor and parachute to protect against ejection heat.

Always ensure you have an appropriate launch site, stand back at least 15 ft., insert the safety key, issue a countdown, and then you can let your rocket fly!
