Unlisted lets prospective buyers register interest in a specific home before it is confirmed for sale. A waitlist does not make the property available, secure a purchase, or oblige the homeowner to respond: owners decide whether to share more information, communicate, or remove a home from the site. Unlisted was named a TechCrunch Disrupt 2025 Startup Battlefield finalist.
How Unlisted works
Unlisted builds profiles for homes from public records so buyers can look up a property by address and join its waitlist. The homeowner is notified when someone expresses interest. Owners can choose whether to update the profile, add details such as photos or a possible moving timeline, and connect with people on the waitlist, directly or through an agent.
Founder Katie Hill described joining as “definitely expressing interest in a property.” That distinction matters: a waitlist entry is not an offer, a reservation, or evidence that the owner plans to sell. Owners can also remove their homes from the website.
What buyers should—and should not—expect
- It may surface a possibility earlier. A buyer can signal interest before a conventional sale listing exists, potentially giving an owner a reason to start a conversation.
- It does not create confirmed inventory. A home may never be offered for sale, and an interested owner may not respond. A buyer cannot assume the home is available or negotiate a purchase just by joining its waitlist.
- Timing and price may not fit. Even if an owner considers selling, the timing may be uncertain and the eventual price may be outside a buyer’s budget. Unlisted is therefore most relevant to people who can wait and keep looking elsewhere.
- It is not a replacement for the usual search. The service exposes potential future inventory, not a complete set of homes currently for sale. Buyers still need to assess confirmed listings and follow the normal purchase process if a home comes onto the market.
How much activity has Unlisted reported?
The reported figures are snapshots from different dates and measure different things; they should not be read as completed sales.

The October 2025 and July 2026 waitlist counts are not directly comparable proof of sales or buyer success: they are dated platform activity figures, and the later report describes a larger nationwide count.
What homeowners control
Unlisted’s model depends on homeowners choosing whether to engage. A buyer’s interest may prompt an owner to consider selling—Hill told Axios, “People warm up to the idea of selling”—but that is not a commitment or timetable. Owners can supply or update information, choose whether and how to communicate, and remove a property from the site. A profile based on public records should not be mistaken for owner-confirmed details.

How it differs from a home listing
The key distinction is whether a home is actually being offered for sale. A conventional sale listing presents a property as available through a seller or their representative. Unlisted’s waitlist is a way to raise interest in a property that may not be for sale at all. The documented flow also gives the homeowner the choice to initiate or allow further contact; it does not establish that every interested buyer will be connected to the owner or an agent.
When comparing any early-access or off-market service, check the practical details rather than relying on the label:

- Is the property confirmed for sale, or only a possible future opportunity?
- Can a buyer signal interest before a listing appears?
- Who decides whether contact happens, and is an agent involved?
- Can the homeowner edit the information or remove the property?
TechCrunch Disrupt and what was announced
TechCrunch named Unlisted a Top 20 Startup Battlefield finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025. TechCrunch also reported an onstage announcement of an iOS app launch in October 2025. That establishes the announcement at the event, not the app’s current App Store availability or whether its features match the website today.

In October 2025, TechCrunch reported that Unlisted planned to sell sponsorships tied to individual ZIP codes to real estate agents. Hill also said a mortgage company had joined and that the company hoped to connect homeowners with local services such as roofers and electricians. Those reports describe commercial plans or connections at that time; a current partner roster, consumer referral program, or referral fees are not established.

TechCrunch also reported a $2.25 million round led by HearstLab the previous November, plus close to $1 million from angel investors. Its company profile separately showed a $2.6 million funding highlight as of September 8, 2025. Because those reported figures do not reconcile exactly, they should not be combined into a definitive total raised.
Who may find it useful
Unlisted may suit a buyer who has a particular neighborhood or address in mind, can be patient, and understands that a waitlist is only a signal of interest. It is less suitable as the sole search method for someone who needs to move on a fixed schedule or wants to browse homes already confirmed for sale. For homeowners, it offers a way to gauge interest while retaining the choice of whether to share details or start a conversation.
